Ion Fury Devs Apologize for Numerous Sexist, Homophobic, and Transphobic Remarks

Sweeping changes are promised as a result.

Voidpoint, the studio behind the just released Ion Fury, has apologized for a series of "incidents" wherein multiple developers were found to use transphobic, ableist, homophobic, and sexist language in the game's official Discord channel. This is on top of some homophobic language found within the game itself.

Over the weekend, a thread had popped up on gaming forum ResetEra that showed multiple instances where the developers had made transphobic remarks via Discord. Members of the dev team were also shown to make...

Respawn Apologizes to Ass-hat Gamers for 'Ass-hat' Remarks

Statement issued from Respawn's Vince Zampella.

Respawn's CEO Vince Zampella issued a bit of an apology today after members of the Apex Legends development team called a bunch of toxic ass-hat gamers, well... they called them ass-hats. Donning their biggest surprised Pikachu face possible, these Gamers™ got extra angry when they realized they couldn't just keep dishing it out and not expect some form of retaliation in return. Some continued to throw tantrums, others called for boycots, while still others did their best "I studied the blade" impersonation.

Insomniac Games was first started in 1994 and remained an independent game developer for this 25 year span of time. They created Spyro the Dragon, the Ratchet & Clank games, along with the Resistance franchise. All of these franchises were PlayStation exclusives, at least initially. Every so...

Gearbox Pulls Out of G2A Deal; Blames People Can Fly

To nobody's real surprise, Gearbox announced today that they have pulled out of their deal with notoriously shady key reseller G2A. The initial deal had G2A selling a number of exclusive versions of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition to consumers. This move comes just a couple of days after the partnership was announced and just a day after Gearbox gave G2A a list of demands that they wanted fulfilled or else they would pull out of the deal.

The demands stipulated that G2A had just under a day to make sweeping changes to their policies. Gearbox's head of publishing, Steve Gibson, issued a statement today on the newly dissolved partnership.

Gearbox Partners with G2A One Day, Threatens to Kill Partnership the Next

Yesterday, Gearbox announced a super controversial partnership with G2A, a "grey market" retailer of PC game keys. The partnership had G2A being an exclusive retailer of some special editions of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition. Man, the Internet was pissed. G2A is notorious for their shady business practices so to see a fairly large studio like Gearbox actually partner with them was kind of beyond the pale.

Cut to today where Gearbox is now threatening to kill the partnership with G2A unless they make some substantial policy changes. Oh, this is just delicious. Gearbox issued a statement to Kotaku saying that they will terminate the partnership...

The Surge 'Target, Loop and Equip' Trailer

Developer Deck13 released another trailer today for The Surge, their upcoming sci-fi action RPG. Today's video is all about the loot.
The Surge empowers players by giving them control over what they loot from defeated enemies. Target specific body parts before damaging them with a combination of vertical and horizontal attacks; the dismembered part then determines which piece of equipment is looted―the schematic corresponding to the sliced armor part, salvaged materials for crafting the corresponding piece, or even the weapon wielded by the enemy. This means that when approaching an enemy, players face a difficult
