  • Oculus Announces 'Rift S' and 'Quest' VR Headsets Releasing May 21 at $400 Each

Oculus held their F8 event today during which they revealed two new and very different VR headsets. In comparison to the also just announced $1,000 Valve Index, these two Oculus headsets start at $400 (or $399 if you want to be specific), and that's the price for the full package on both of these.

A major advantage with these two headsets, when compared to the Index, is the fact that they utilize inside-out tracking. That means they make use of headset mounted cameras and sensors to track your location within an environment in addition to the controller locations in space....

There are also a list of games that have been updated to include support for the new Index controllers. It's an impressive bit of hardware, without a doubt, but it's one that comes at a hefty price.

More Details About the Valve Index VR Headset Revealed

It's no real secret that Valve has been working on a new in-house first-party VR headset. Images of their development units were seen back in July 2018. Just this past week, a special page on the Steam Store was discovered that makes it very clear Valve is almost ready to start selling their VR hardware to the world.

The page on Steam tells us that their headset is called the Valve Index and that we can expect to see additional details starting May 2019. That was pretty much all we knew through the weekend. However, earlier today a few additional pages were accidentally made...

No Man's Sky Getting VR Support in Beyond Update

About two weeks back, the "Beyond" update for No Man's Sky was announced. At that time, we knew only a fraction of the content that the team at Hello Games is including in this update slated for release this Summer. Today, a bit more of their plans were revealed when the team announced that VR support is being added to the game as part of Beyond.

This VR support will be added to the PlayStation and PC versions of the game. PlayStation VR will obviously be the go to for PlayStation 4 owners, while PC owners will have their choice of Vive or Rift. I suppose that technically,...

Oculus Rift S VR Headset Announced - More of a Lateral Move Than an Upgrade

Today at GDC, Facebook announced a new version of their Oculus Rift headset that they're simply calling the Oculus Rift S. They announced a $399 (USD) price point for the device that will start shipping later this Spring.

On paper, the headset sounds like a decent device. It features an LCD 2560x1440 panel (1280x1440 per eye), better pixel density compared to the Rift, updated lenses, an 80Hz refresh rate, updated Oculus Touch controllers (functionally the same as the old ones), an adjustable halo strap similar to PlayStation VR.

An Official Groundhog Day VR Game was Just Announced

The original Groundhog Day movie came out back in 1993. It starred the always fantastic Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. It was written and directed by Egon himself, Harold Ramis (may he rest in peace).

The premise was simple: A weatherman (Murray) is stuck in Punxsutawney, PA doomed to repeat February 2, otherwise known as "Groundhog Day," for all eternity. It was part comedy, part depressing realizations, and part romance all rolled into a single film set in one location and on one day.

And now here in 2019, an official spiritual successor to that...

A Bunch of Sword Art Online News and Something About VRMMORPG

There was just no way I would have been able to fit everything that there is to talk about with this one if I wasn't being a bit cheeky with the headline. Bandai Namco has passed along word to us today that Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization - Deluxe Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch this Spring.

In addition to that, the very same email says that both Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet - Dissonance of the Nexus Expansion and Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet - Complete Edition will be released digitally for the PC via Steam, the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 18,...

You Can Now Play P.T. on the PC in VR

Unreal PT is what happens when someone takes assets from P.T., puts them back together in Unreal Engine 4, and adds in VR support because to hell with everything, you weren't going to sleep tonight anyway.

For those that forgot about P.T., it is the "Playable Teaser" that was created by Kojima Productions and Guillermo Del Toro back in 2014. It was revealed and released without anybody knowing just what it was all about. Most who dove in thought it was just a unique horror demo and that was it. It wasn't until clever puzzle solvers discovered that it was an incredibly impressive teaser for Silent Hills, a new entry in the Silent H...
