Microsoft Says 'No' to Full CG Trailers for Xbox Showcase

All trailers will be properly labeled so fans know what they're seeing.

Greenberg states that none of the first-party games in the show are full CG trailers and that everything will be either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or a blend of in-game footage with some cinematics.

He continues on to say that each trailer will...

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Reviewing Worse than Crime Boss: Rockay City

Gollum manages to be worse than a game with Vanilla Ice.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was released today and I'm willing to bet that this won't be the last time you hear about this game. No, I suspect that you'll hear a bit more about this game when it comes time for some outlets to talk about the worst games released in 2023.

Thus far, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is sitting at just a 43% critic average on OpenCritic with only 5% of all critics actually recommending...

First Bungie Behind the Scenes for Marathon

A first look at this PvP extraction shooter from Bungie.

The original Marathon trilogy of titles were first-person shooters set in a sci-fi universe that had a heavy emphasis on storytelling. They were games that were primarily all about the single-player campaign and the story, though there were some competitive multiplayer modes. The last game, Marathon Infinity was first released for Mac in 1996.

Fast-forward to 2023, some 27 years after the last game was released,...

    After Us Review (PS5)

After Us offers a glimpse of our future and a warning of things to come.

A gaming experience where you engage in thoughtful introspection, wordless encounters, and some platforming across Earth's many diverse locations to undo the devastation caused by global warming sounds like an intriguing idea on paper. Its execution in After Us, however, leaves quite a bit to be desired. Some awkward platforming, poor combat, and performance woes will ultimately leave you feeling a little less...

    Mortal Kombat 1 Announced

Everything is going back to the beginning.

It seems like these days that everything is getting rebooted. I believe this all started when Microsoft released the Xbox One despite it being the company's third major console generation. Then there was Battlefield 1. Ever since then there have just been more and more franchise or series reboots.

Now, Mortal Kombat 1 was announced by Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios. This series reboot is expected to be released this...

Redfall is Arkane's Worst Game Ever

It's also the worst "AAA" developed title in recent memory.

It was a struggle to finish Redfall. It was an absolute struggle thanks to performance issues, technical deficiencies, crashes, broken A.I., and uninspired quest design. It was the antithesis of fun and I pushed myself to complete the game out of pure spite.

Prior to playing Redfall, I saw Arkane as a studio that could do no wrong when it comes to their output. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic in 2006...

Redfall's First Update Lacks the Performances Fixes You Want

The troubled game's first update is quite lacking.

An update for Redfall made its way to the PC version of the game earlier today. Those of you downloading the several gigabyte update were probably hoping to see some fixes included for the game's myriad of technical issues. Maybe a fix for the poor CPU and GPU utilization, and overall generally poor performance? Maybe fixes for the shadows, or broken AI, or broken animations, or ragdoll glitches, or poor textures, or floating geometry,...

Redfall's Disastrous Release is Phil Spencer's Fault

The Head of Xbox assumes "full responsibility."

Blame Phil. Really, he said it's ok to blame him. For what? For the overwhelmingly negative response to the recent release of Redfall. And, which Phil are we blaming? Phil Spencer, of course. The Head of Xbox himself says that he takes "full responsibility" for that game and the everything that's wrong with it.

Spencer's noble self-sacrifice here was shared during a lengthy interview on the Kinda Funny...

It has been a little bit of time since we last got a good look at the upcoming Amnesia: The Bunker, but that all changes today.
