Tetris Effect Coming to PC Next Week as Epic Store Exclusive

No word on if it's a timed exclusive.

The game that many called 2018's game of the year is coming very soon to the PC. That's right, Tetris Effect brings its psychedelic strategy-puzzle gameplay to a PC somewhat near you on July 23. Ah, but there is a catch, because of course there is.

In case you missed it, Tetris Effect is exclusive to the Epic Games Store. There is no saying whether or not this is a timed exclusive release, or if this third-party PC release will remain an exclusive to that launcher. This release will mark the first time that the game was available...

Horror Game Devotion May Not be Re-released

Developer says this may change, but not any time soon.

This past February, Taiwan-based Red Candle Games pulled their then newly released horror title, Devotion, from the Steam store. This came after it was discovered that the game had shipped with an Easter egg that references how China's president, Xi Jinping, looks like Winnie the Pooh. What followed was a wave of review bombing on Steam from upset Chinese citizens that continued to toe the line that the government has repeatedly pushed upon them.

The original plan from Red Candle Games was to remove the game from...

Introducing Steam Labs - A Place to Test New Steam Features

Launching today with three experiments.

Valve has just launched a new area on Steam where users can test out new, experimental features for Steam. They're calling this area the Steam Labs and it is here where users will be able to test out potential new Steam features. These tests may one day become commonplace on Steam, but for now they are mere experiments ripe for testing and potential changes based on user feedback.

If you ever used Gmail, you may already know what to expect from these Labs experiments. That is to say, there is no guarantee that they will be fully...

Nintendo Lite Announced - $200 Handheld Device Coming in September

Cheaper, smaller, colorful.

Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch Lite today. Priced at $199 (USD), this new iteration of the Switch hardware will be released on September 20, 2019. It will come in three different colors (Grey, Yellow, and Turquoise) at launch. A carrying case and a screen protector is also going to be available at launch for the Switch Lite.

Compared to its older brother, the Switch Lite will be a portable only device. You will not be able to dock the Switch Lite to a TV as you can with the regular Switch. In addition, the Switch Lite does not have...

Facebook Reportedly Bringing Splinter Cell Back... as a VR Game

Who wished on a monkey's paw?!

There is a story circulating today saying that Facebook may have already signed deals with Ubisoft to bring back Splinter Cell and a new Assassin's Creed title. That's not the weird part. The weird part here is that the deal is to create VR games in these two popular franchises. And since it's Facebook that pushed the deal, that would mean that the games would be Oculus "exclusive" and sold through their Oculus Store.

This is, at least right now, merely a rumor. It came to light today via The Information (full article is locked...

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Revealed - Crossplay, New Engine, October Release, No Season Pass

Third time's the charm for Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has just been officially announced and revealed for the third-ish time in the history of the world. There is a soft reboot of the Modern Warfare story for the Call of Duty franchise and should not be confused with the original release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered in 2016.

This Modern Warfare is slated to be released on October 25, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The PC release will once again be sold through the Battle.net client....

  • Call of Duty 2019 is Soft Reboot, Called 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare'

Call of Duty 2019 is Soft Reboot, Called 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare'

    Déjà vu.

According to some rumors with a bit of meat to them, we now know a couple of interesting details concerning the 2019 Call of Duty release.

First off, this year's game is called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I'm dead serious. It's going to be a new entry in the Modern Warfare series that originally started with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007. I know the difference between the two titles is literally just a single character, but it is a difference. Amusingly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is actually the fourth Modern Warfare title, effectively making this...

  • Call of Duty Shakeup - Call of Duty 2020 is Another Black Ops and Is Modern Warfare 4 Going Free-to-Play?

Reports include talk of arguments between Sledgehammer and Raven.

There are reported some massive changes happening behind the scenes of the Call of Duty franchise. According to a new report from Jason Schreier of Kotaku, Call of Duty 2020 is no longer being developed by Sledgehammer and Raven. It will instead be handled by Treyarch and it will be another entry in the Black Ops saga.

This is the first major change in the development cycle of the Call of Duty franchise since 2012. Since then, the Call of Duty games have cycled between three lead studios. Those studios...

Call of Duty 'Partners' Played the New Call of Duty and You Didn't

A private event was held today wherein a number of college football players and various "Call of Duty Partners" got to play the new Call of Duty title. Charlie Intel gathered up a bunch of these social media postings from all these #CallofDutyPartners on Twitter and Instagram. You can see a few of the tweets embedded below.

Really, that's kind of all there is to pull from today's event. Nobody has spilled any beans and I'm sure all of these people are under a strict non-disclosure agreement and/or an embargo of some sort. The social media postings are just a publicity...

  • Call of Duty: Mobile Announced

    Call of Duty: Mobile Announced

Call of Duty: Mobile was announced today. Take your favorite maps, modes, and characters with you in the palm of your hand from across the various Call of Duty stories. The game is being developed by Tencent's studio, Timi. It's coming for both Android and iOS and will also include multiple game modes when released.

It will be published by Activision, obviously. It will be a free-to-play title at release. I'm assuming that the game will contain in-app purchases. I would be absolutely shocked if it didn't.

If you already know you're on board with this, you can...

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered Rated in Europe

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered Rated in Europe

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered was apparently just been given a rating by the Pan European Game Information board (PEGI). This specific rating is for the PlayStation 4. And yes, that is the actual title that is given.

So far, nothing about this has been announced by Activision yet. Hell, nothing about this year's Call of Duty release has been revealed at all yet.

I just can't help but feel incredibly indifferent about this if the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer isn't included alongside the campaign. Or if they do what they did with Call of Duty:...

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 'Blackout' Free Trial is Now Live on All Platforms

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 'Blackout' Free Trial is Now Live on All Platforms

From today (January 17) through to January 23, players on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One can download and play the Blackout game type from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. As a quick reminder, Blackout is the battle royale mode that was introduced this year to the Call of Duty franchise.

This free trial coincides with the release of the 1.11 update for the PC version of Black Ops 4. The 1.11 update came out just a couple of days ago for the console versions of the game. The PS4 version of the game now also has the new "Down But Not Out" limited-time...

Operation Absolute Zero Live for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on PS4

PlayStation 4 owners with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 can now download and play Operation Absolute Zero. This is, so far, the biggest content drop for Black Ops 4 since the game was released. Xbox One and PC players will have to wait until December 18 to play this new content because timed exclusives are stupid but it is what it is.

Charlie INTEL has a very nice rundown of the changes included in today's big updates.
    Multiplayer:

    • An all new Specialist, Zero, is now live in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 MP. Players can use this new specialist with the disruptor equipment and hack enemy kill streaks.
    • The brand new Operation Absolute Zero Contraband Stream is live in the Black Market!

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Sales Surpasses $500 Million in Three Days

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Sales Surpasses $500 Million in Three Days

The lack of a single player campaign sure as hell doesn't seem to matter to most of the gaming world, as evident by the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has pulled in over $500 million (USD) in worldwide sales just over its launch weekend.

To put it perspective, that is about the same amount that Call of Duty: WWII pulled in last year. However, it is down ever so slightly from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 that pulled in over $550 million in its first three days.
"Black Ops 4 is off to a blockbuster start," said Activision executive vice president and Call of Duty GM Rob Kostich. "Our player counts and hours played are up year

Blackout Bumps Player Count in Duos from 88 to 100

Yesterday's update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 includes some changes to the Blackout battle royale mode. Those playing Duos will notice that the player count has now hit 100 players, while those playing in Quads are up to 88 players.

PC players can specifically thank Beenox for fixing a number of crashes, improving stability, and just generally tweaking the hell out of the gameplay for the better. You can see the full list of changes below courtesy of Reddit.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Breaks Sales Records for Activision

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Breaks Sales Records for Activision

Activision announced today that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was set a new launch day sales record. According to the publisher, Black Ops 4 is the "biggest one day digital release" in their history.

This naturally broke the previous record set by 2017's Call of Duty: WWII. Black Ops 4 also set records on the PlayStation for most day one digital full game sales through the PlayStation Store. It was also the best-selling Activision Xbox One digital game on day one. Though this was the first year for the Call of Duty franchise to appear solely on Battle.net, sales of the PC version were more than double when compared to last year's...
