Civilization VI: Gathering Storm Now Available

Civilization VI, of the Sid Meier variety, has a new expansion out today. It's called Gathering Storm, which is a good thing because this expansion is mostly about a very active planet with many environmental challenges.

This expansion includes new Environmental Effects (they capitalized it this way), new Engineering Projects, and Consumable Resources for players to wrap their strategic minds around. This is being called the "largest ever" expansion released in the entire history of the Civilization franchise. Because in addition to the whole environmental stuff,...

Steam Reveals "Best of 2018" Lists

It's the end of 2018 and you know what that means? No, it's not that. Nor is it that. Ew, stop it. Alright, I'll just tell you instead. It's time for Steam's "Best of 2018" lists! You probably actually guessed that given the title, but that's besides the point. Valve has compiled some lists that take a look back at the games released in 2018. These include the top sellers for the year, the best VR titles, and more! Granted, most of these were probably just automatically compiled via Steam's stat tracking, but they're still fun to take a look at.

    The catch here is...

Civilization VI: Gathering Storm Expansion Announced

The second expansion for Civilization VI was officially announced today after about a day of teasing from 2K and Firaxis Games. Civilization VI: Gathering Storm will be released on February 14, 2019 but what exactly does this new expansion add?

Well, for one thing it adds in an "active planet" where the environment may prove to be a bigger foe than any other civilization out there.
Civilization VI: Gathering Storm will introduce an active planet where geology and climatology present unique new challenges. Players will build new Engineering Projects, manage their cities' Power and Consumable Resources and work with other world leaders in the World Congress to deal with the challenges presented by the dynamic

Newsbits: Game Releases for Friday, November 16

It's a busy release day, this day of Fri, or "Friday" as some of you may call it. We already talked about the PC release of Sunset Overdrive but did you know that other games also came out today? It's true.

Why not put up a separate news post for each of the following Friday releases? The answer my astound you: I'm feeling lazy. Hell, there might even bee a few things in this Newsbits that doesn't have anything to do with a new release today.

Mars Chaos Menance is out today on PS4, Switch, and PC via Steam. A release on the Xbox One is coming soon. It's a bullet-hell shmup similar to games like Ikaruga and it's developed from Byte4Games. It's got that old-school gameplay approach but blends in 3D environments for some visual oomph.

Distrust is out today on the PS4. Developer Cheerdealers released...

    Review: Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PC)

I don't remember history being this buggy.
If there is one area that video games come up short in, it's when they attempt to tackle real-life history. Specifically, games come up well short in being historically accurate without also including a healthy dose of embellishment or suspension of disbelief. In nearly all of the games that focus on real-world history, you almost always play as some overpowered jack-of-all-trades. Yes, this includes games and franchises such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, Total War, Civilization, and even Assassin's Creed.

Thankfully, we have a game like Kingdom Come: Deliverance that comes along to not only embrace the idea of a "historically accurate" game but to completely redefine what the genre should be striving to achieve. Kingdom Come is set in 15th century Bohemia and no, you aren't some all-powerful character that somehow knows how to fight like a God and tank hits like your body was made of solid steel. You start out as a nobody named...

Learn About the New Features in Civilization VI: Rise and Fall Expansion

A new video for Civilization VI: Rise and Fall, appropriately named "New Features Explained," details some of the new features coming in the expansion. Weird how that works, isn't it?

Tamar to Lead Georgia in Civilization VI: Rise and Fall

Tamar was revealed as the leader of Georgia today for the upcoming Rise and Fall expansion for Sid Meier's Civilization VI. The official Civilization blog has some of the major details on Tamar's life along with some insight on her unique content.
Born around 1160 (dates of her birth vary) to King George III and Queen Burdukhan, Tamar would be in for an early fight to keep her crown. The nobles of the court preferred her cousin, Prince Demna, to be next in line of succession and by the time she was 17, a minor rebellion broke out. Those nobles were summarily crushed by King George III. Tamar was proclaimed heir and co-ruler by her father shortly after that rebellion. When George III died in 1184, Tamar assumed the
