Civilization VI is about ready to venture into an all-new Frontier. 2K has just announced the New Frontier Pass for Sid Meier's Civilization VI. As you may have already figured out by the use of the word "pass" and the fact that the title specifies "bi-monthly content drops," this is indeed an announcement of a Season Pass for the game.

The New Frontier Pass promises to deliver eight new civilizations, nine new leaders, six new game modes, "and more" unspecified content to the strategy title. All of this will be released through six downloadable content packs that are delivered on a bi-monthly basis. This all begins on May 21, 2020 and runs through to March 2021.

Civilization VI - New Frontier Pass will set players back just $39.99 (USD). It will be made available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Windows, Max, and Linux. A mobile release of this content and Season Pass is said to arrive later in 2020. For those that prefer to purchase packs like this piecemeal instead of picking up the full Season Pass, you can do so. The first DLC offering will be Maya & Gran Colombia Pack. This specific pack adds in leaders from each named civilization, the new Apocalypse game mode, new City-States, new Resources, and new Natural Wonders. It will be out on May 21, 2020.

Sadly, a price for the sold-seperately pack was not announced in this press release. It may be revealed closer to the pack's release on the 21st.

If you do decide to pick up the New Frontier Pass, you will get a couple of bonuses with your purchase. Specifically, you will get the Teddy Roosevelt and Catherine De Medici Persona Packs. These packs include a "brand-new take" on these leaders with a new leader model and background. They also come with new gameplay bonuses as well as an updated agenda that "reflects the changes to the leader's personality."

“Rough Rider Teddy” excels at keeping the peace on his home continent, while “Magnificence Catherine” can use Luxuries to overwhelm the world with Culture and Tourism.
These Persona Packs will be out alongside the second DLC pack in July.

Firaxis also confirms that there will be some free updates released between the DLC packs. This free content includes new maps, scenarios, balancing, and more. These will be for everyone that owns the game. As always, you can find out more at Civilization.com.
