    by Shawn Zipay
    One week out from release.

This launch trailer features the track "My Favourite Game" by The Cardigans. It builds up the hype ahead of release without revealing too much of the mysteries that await players.

MindsEye Developer Build a Rocket Boy Seems to be Closing
    by Shawn Zipay
All employees have apparently been laid off.

The Leslie Benzies-led development studio, Build a Rocket Boy, seems to have laid off all remaining employees. Multiple developers have come forward saying they were laid off, with some adding that they believe pretty much everyone at the company has been laid off. This would effectively mean Build a Rocket Boy is no more after releasing only one title, MindsEye.

For Benzies, MindsEye was to be the start of their "Roblox...

Why Always On Community Servers Still Matter in Modern Multiplayer Games
    by Major 0
Modern multiplayer games make joining a match almost effortless. A button finds a lobby, fills empty slots and moves everyone into the action. That convenience is valuable, but it solves a different problem from the one community-run servers were built to solve. Matchmaking creates sessions. A persistent server creates a place. For survival games, sandboxes, simulators and mod-friendly PC titles, that distinction still shapes whether a group plays together for one evening or becomes a lasting c...

Wardogs Releases to Steam Early Access
    by Shawn Zipay
3 teams. 100 players. 1 odd man out.

Wardogs was released into Steam Early Access today. The game boasts massive 100-player all-out warfare battles. Wardogs is developed by Bulkhead and published by team17. It's billed as a tactical FPS and is planned for PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S in 2028.

So far, it seems as though the Early Access is nothing more than a queue simulator. I've seen about a quarter of a million people waiting in the queue at one point. It probably...

    It's a Unix system. I know this!

The Steam Programming Fest is now live on Steam through September 14 at 10 AM PT. These next four days will allow you to pretend to be a 1337 h4x0r. Dust off those Cheeto bags, crack open a cold one (Mtn. Dew), and prepare to code as you've never coded before (because you probably haven't).

Taking a look at some of the "Popular Discounted" titles participating in the sale, we can see some real hidden gems. I don't know. Maybe...

Reply to Sports Commentator Says NHL 27 is Using Gen-AI Voiceover for In-Game Commentary

So people like Buccigross are the reason why AI keeps getting fed. **** he is stupid. And the worst part is that he probably doesn't care that much about the check since these are side gigs compared to his actual job. Losing to AI is fine until it gets used for TV broadcasts, and THEN he'll get upset having no idea he contributed to it! **** he is stupid!

And with the acquisition of EA, I can't trust buying Battlefield 6 now. I liked the open beta and despite finally being able...
