Franchise sales have surpassed 73 million copies sold.

Warner Bros. shared news today that Mortal Kombat 11 is now the best selling Mortal Kombat game ever. The latest release in the brutal fighting franchise has sold over 12 million units around the world. Mortal Kombat 11 helped the entire franchise hit sales figures of over 73 million copies sold just on consoles. No, we do not know why they are specifically excluding sales figures of PC releases here. Perhaps PC sales figures are...

Valve Clears Up '30 FPS Target' for Steam Deck
    by Shawn Zipay
30 FPS is the bare minimum accepted by Valve.

In speaking with IGN, a Steam Deck designer Pierre-Loup Griffais, said that Valve has a target of "30Hz" for their output framerate with Steam Deck. He says that everything they (Valve) have tested have run "without issues" and have hit that 800p and 30Hz target really well.

Obviously, some people took this to mean that the Steam Deck would only run games at a 30FPS cap. Some have even begun to doubt the...

Redditor Sent Fake Death Threats to Himself and Blamed Girlfriend Reviews
    by Shawn Zipay
Gamers once again proving that they are, in fact, the worst.

There is a popular YouTube channel called Girlfriend Reviews. It's a gaming focused channel that offers up video game reviews for new or recently released titles. Girlfriend Reviews blend together comedy with personal opinions on the games they review, with the boyfriend (Matt) typically offering up the viewpoint of the player and the girlfriend (Shelby) offering up the viewpoint of a spectator.

    Though their...

Reply to Blizzard President Makes Sad Attempt at Damage Control with Internal Email to Staff
    by K-16
If I don't care about keeping my soul, I wonder if Activision-Blizzard stocks would make a good pump and dump or short selling scheme? Because it's obvious executives have learned absolutely nothing, and are specifically aiming for calming down pissed off shareholders. Actually are people already short selling Activision?

(This is meant to be satire. I want Activision-Blizzard severely punished. I hated them ever since the commentators remained punished for absolutely no reason...

    by K-16
The game that beat Enter The Matrix at slow motion gunplay, and gave a modder one heck of a challenge to make impossible things happen through crazy creative illusions (even the devs were stumped at the time).

Sad to know the majority of the original Max Payne team aren't even with Remedy Entertainment, so getting the same people to bring back the fun of Max Payne 1 and 2 will be difficult. That and they probably need the rebooted 3D Realms to guide them on how much environmental interactivity...

Remedy Celebrates Max Payne's 20th Anniversary in the Best Way Possible
    by Shawn Zipay
The trouble with wanting something is the fear of losing it, or never getting it. The thought makes you weak.

Max Payne just turned 20. The neo-noir third-person shooter that popularized the use of "bullet time" throughout the series is celebrating 20 years since the launch of the first game. Max Payne came out on July 23, 2001 from Remedy Entertainment.

The game tells the story of a pill addicted former NYPD cop Max Payne and his attempts to hunt down the people...

EVGA to Replace All RTX 3090 Cards Killed by New World
    by Shawn Zipay
Don't worry, your $2,000+ purchase is safe.

EVGA has confirmed to PCGamer that they will indeed replace all of their Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 cards that have met an unfortunate and premature end at the hands of the New World MMO. A spokesperson for EVGA says, "yes, all failed 3090s are being replaced."

It's still not particularly clear as to what the reason is behind multiple 3090 (and other high-end GPUs) succumbing to an early death at the hands of the new MMORPG...

Reply to Activision Blizzard Sued by California After Two Year Investigation into Rampant Sexual Harassment
    by K-16
What's sad is that Activision-Blizzard will only change because their shareholders are pissed off. They don't need to learn anything, just apologize and tell the shareholders whatever they want to hear. It's not about putting any attempt into redeeming themselves.

Activision Blizzard Sued by California After Two Year Investigation into Rampant Sexual Harassment
    by Shawn Zipay
The harassment is so bad it drove at least one person to suicide.

After a two-year long investigation by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the state has filed a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard due to the constant sexual harassment that female employees have been subjected to over the years. According to a report from Bloomberg, Activision Blizzard is said to foster a "frat boy" culture.

This culture, left unchecked and unpunished for...

Reply to Steam Community Throws Slur Filled Tantrum After Superhot VR Devs Remove Self-Harm Scenes
    by cikame
I haven't played Superhot VR but i've played the two regular games so i can imagine how those scenes would have tied in with the narrative, they were probably pretty impactful.
I'm not here to say whether it's a good or a bad thing, but i'm usually anti censorship, whether it's from the creator or not.

Reply to Steam Community Throws Slur Filled Tantrum After Superhot VR Devs Remove Self-Harm Scenes
    by nobodycares
I’m not sure a “problematic issue” existed for the team to solve, at least not for a majority of the players. They solved a problem by adding a toggle for anyone affected by the self-harm scenes, and that was it. If you didn’t want to experience that then you didn’t, and that was a very good move on the devs’ part. But when they altered a game that’s been played and loved for years because everyone “deserves better”, that is just pure BS. I don’t deserve to be told I can’t...

Steam Community Throws Slur Filled Tantrum After Superhot VR Devs Remove Self-Harm Scenes
    by Shawn Zipay
I'll never understand how some of these people can even function within society.

Earlier today, Superhot VR was updated to remove a couple of "disturbing scenes" from the game. Prior to this update, there was an in-game toggle that allowed players to skip the scenes in question if they so desired. Those scenes being depictions of self-harm including shooting yourself in the head and jumping off of a building.

If you chose not to toggle these scenes off, you had...
