  • I think it's been confirmed to have near full backwards compatibility. XB1, 360, and the OG. I sincerely doubt this means it will run every one of those old games, but rather those that have already been X enhanced or proven to be playable via current backwards compatibility already. Which, granted, is still an absolute TON of games for every platform.

As far as hardware is concerned, it's backwards compatible with all current XB1 controllers and accessories: https://www.theverge.com/2019/6/11/1...troller-access...

Song of Horror Coming to PS4 and Xbox in Q2 2020

A single-player horror game with permadeath is coming in 2020 to consoles.

Song of Horror offers up a fairly unique spin on the old horror game tropes. Unlike many other single-player horror experiences, when death takes your character in this one, they're gone for good. Today, Raiser Games and Protocol Games announced that their take on the survival horror genre will be launching on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Q2 2020.

This announcement arrives just a few days ahead of the release of the PC version's third chapter on Friday, December 13....

EA Quietly Added Snoop Dogg to NHL 20 Today

Don't look at me, I'm just as bewildered as you are.

NHL 20 from EA Sports was updated today. On any other day this would be quickly ignored. However, today? Today sees the addition of Snoop Dogg as both an announcer and a player.

Why? Reasons beyond "because" or "because money" simply elude me. I don't even see any announcement about this addition on the official NHL game website. The official EA Sports NHL Twitter does have a couple of mentions concerning today's new addition.

Besides having him as an announcer,...

  • DICE Nerfed the TTK Yet Again in Battlefield V

DICE Nerfed the TTK Yet Again in Battlefield V

Almost one year later and DICE is repeating the same exact mistakes.

Back on December 12, 2018, DICE decided to adjust the TTK (Time To Kill) for weapons in Battlefield V. A lot of the changes made weapons a fair bit less effective at actually taking out enemies. DICE said that they found that their "wider player base was dying too fast." That is to say, the shorter TTK wasn't too friendly for new players. To say that the core Battlefield community hated the changes is probably a massive understatement.

So, DICE tried to find a compromise...

Phil Spencer Already Took the Next-gen Xbox Home

Some people get all the perks.

We may still be about a year away from the release of the next-gen consoles from both PlayStation and Microsoft, but that doesn't mean they don't already exist in some form. To that end, the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, coyly announced this evening that he brought his Project Scarlett console home with him this week.

Spencer obviously held back on providing many details on his new hardware. He did state how Scarlett has become his primary console for playing games. He also notes how he is using his Elite Series ...

A New Outlast Game was Just Announced

No, it's not a VR game.

Despite the inclusion of what appears to be some weird VR goggles on the announcement image, the next Outlast game is not, in fact, a VR horror game. This is a point that developer Red Barrels has had to state repeatedly on their brief announcement for The Outlast Trials.

While it may not be a VR game, it isn't exactly going to be Outlast 3. The Outlast Trials will be a co-op horror game set in the same universe as the previous two games. You will play as test subjects in a creepy Cold War-era experiment. You can...

Dead Cells 'The Bad Seed' DLC Arrives Early 2020

New content for one of the best action titles is coming at an affordable price.

In Q1 2020, Motion Twin and Evil Empire will release The Bad Seed DLC for Dead Cells. This content includes two new biomes, new monsters, new weapons, and "an exceedingly creepy boss battle." If this new content is even half as good as the base game, fans will be in for a real treat.

The Bad Seed DLC will introduce new path choices early on in a playthrough to ensure that all players, regardless of skill level, will be able to play and experience the new...

In the Valley of Gods is Officially 'On Hold'

The latest from the Firewatch team is indefinitely postponed.

Way back in the year 2017, Firewatch developer Campo Santo announced a new titled called In the Valley of Gods. At the time, we never knew it but the first reveal of the game could also have been the last look we may ever get.

In the Valley of Gods was going to be a first-person adventure set in Egypt. Just about five months after the announcement, came word that Campo Santo was acquired by Valve. In the months and years that followed, Campo Santo developers that had joined Valve started...

Halo: Reach Released Today on PC

First day saw almost 140K players just on Steam alone.

Halo: Reach is now available on PC. That's something that I never thought I'd be able to say and have it be truthful, but here we are. Halo: Reach was released today for The Master Chief Collection on the Xbox One, Windows 10, and on Steam. For those on the PC, this is the first game released for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

This release sees Halo: Reach playable in 4K (or more on PC) with a number of other graphical improvements in the 9 years since its initial launch. The team at...

Dead by Daylight 'Cursed Legacy' Content Released

This marks a new chapter of content for the multiplayer focused title.

Cursed Legacy is the next chapter of content for Dead by Daylight and it was just released today. This add-on will unlock a new killer, Yamaoka Kazan, an exclusive cosmetic for a new survivor, Kimura Yui, and a new map called Sanctum of Wrath.

Apparently this Cursed Legacy chapter is "closely linked" to the previous chapter, Shattered Bloodline. This was a chapter that was released in 2018. For those of you paying close attention to that deep Dead by Daylight lore,...

Destiny 2 Season of Dawn Takes Us Back to Mercury and Back in Time

It also brings back an old hero from the dead.

Bungie just revealed the first details for their next season of content coming very soon to Destiny 2. The new season is being called Season of Dawn and whether you like it or not, we're headed back to Mercury. If that was the only thing to take away from this reveal, I'd probably just walk away from the game.

However, Bungie also revealed several other things that are actually kind of neat. Season of Dawn will indeed take us back to Mercury, but it will also play with time travel in slightly newer...

Resident Evil 3 Remake Cover Art Leaked

Features a look at Jill, Carlos, and Nemesis.

We seem to have yet another leak on our hands today. This time it's for the still not officially announced remake of Resident Evil 3. It seems as though the cover art for this totally not real game was found on the servers for the PlayStation Store.

A games tracker feature on Gamstat quickly embeded the images from the PlayStation Store and thus made them visible publicly. Since then the images were pulled from being publicly accessible on the PlayStation Store. It's a good thing Gematsu saved the...

Star Wars Battlefront II: Celebration Edition Leaked

An official announcement is expected on Wednesday.

Though it hasn't been officially announced yet, and may not be until December 5, it looks like EA is readying a new release for Star Wars: Battlefront II. It's called Star Wars Battlefront II: Celebration Edition and, as you probably already expect, this release will include the game, all of the previously released free content, a bunch of appearance unlocks, and yes, even some Rise of Skywalker content.

It's probably worth noting here that the Rise of Skywalker content won't be added until December...

Riot Games to Pay $10 Million to Settle Gender Discrimination Lawsuit

The League of Legends developer will pay out $10 million in settlement.

Riot Games, the development studio behind League of Legends, has agreed to pay out at least $10 million to women that have worked at the studio over the past five years. This is part of a settlement in a class action lawsuit over alleged gender discrimination within the studio.

This lawsuit began back in November 2018 after two women filed a suit over violations of the California Equal Pay act. The two employees go on to say that they were the victims of gender-based discrimination....

On December 5, Nintendo will release a free content update for Super Mario Maker 2 for the Nintendo Switch. This update will offer players the ability to use new course parts in their designs, a new mode, and a little thing called the Master Sword.

All of this will be included in the 2.0.0 update set to hit Super Mario Maker 2 in just a few days. The Master Sword item will only be usable in the 8-bit Super Mario Bros. style. When acquired, the Master Sword will transform Mario into Link. This new...

Sony Kicks Off a Week of PlayStation 25th Anniversary Celebrations

Sony's Jim Ryan offers up some kind words about 25 years of PlayStation.

These comments from Ryan kick off a planned week of celebrations surrounding the 25th anniversary of the PlayStation brand. The original PlayStation launched on December 3, 1994 in Japan. It then hit the shores...

My Hero One's Justice 2 Release Date Set for March

The sequel picks up right where the first left off.

The release date for My Hero One's Justice 2 was just announced today by Bandai Namco. Those who own a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or who use Steam on PC will be able to pick up the game starting on March 13, 2020.

The publisher says that this release includes a "revamped story mode, new characters, and new features." I would sure like to think that a sequel would include all of those things, but what do I know?

The Codemasters portfolio continues to grow.

Codemasters picked up Slightly Mad Studios this past week for a cool $30 million. Slightly Mad Studios is the development team behind the Project Cars games.

Codemasters is certainly no stranger to racing games. They are known for bringing the world a plethora of racing games over the years. They own the rights to the Dirt, Grid, and Formula 1 franchises. Slightly Mad Studios has been around for about 10 years now. They previously worked on some games for EA including Need for Speed: Shift and Shift...
