A free weekend for the space themed, 4X grand strategy game, Stellaris, has just kicked off. From May 12 through May 17, you can play one of the more critically acclaimed strategy titles available today. This free event comes alongside a big 2.7 update for the game. This update and free weekend also happens to coincide with the game's fourth anniversary of availability.
As is the case with pretty much every single one of these free weekends on Steam, the game is also on sale at a very steep discount. If you like what you play during this free event, you can pick up Stellaris for 75% off and keep playing after the weekend is over. The sale ends on May 18, which gives you just one extra day after the free weekend ends to make your decision.
This discount makes the base game a very enticing $9.99 (USD) through Steam. The "Galaxy Edition" of the game is now $12.49 for this sale event. If you want the Stellaris: Starter Pack that includes the game and a handful of DLC, you can get it all for $39.95.
