Volition formed in 1993, with their first game coming in 1995. That game was none other than the widely acclaimed Descent, a first-person spaceship shooter. Volition went on to make several more games in the Descent franchise. Volition also created the PlayStation 2 RPG Summoner. They created Red Faction and several sequels. • Depending on Who You Ask: Everyone or Nobody at DICE is Currently Working on Battlefield 2042

    Schrödinger's development team.

Depending on who you listen to and who you believe, either a "skeleton crew" is left working on Battlefield 2042 development, or the entire team at DICE is still working on the game.

Back in April, the idea that there were only a handful of people left working on Battlefield 2042 started to circulate online. When asked how many people were still working on 2042, DICE game designer Frederik Drabert said that "almost everyone"...

Fortnite Might Add a First-Person Mode

This is perhaps not the FPS from Epic you were looking for.

Epic Games is no stranger to first-person shooters, what with them having made several of them with the Unreal franchise and all. Lately, their real bread and butter has been found in Fortnite, a game that is very much not an FPS.

That might be changing in the near future. Known Fortnite data miner and leaker, HYPEX, shared that Epic Games is developing a first-person camera mode for their battle royale.

Battlefield 2042 Update 1.0 Patch Notes

Yes, 1.0. We're up to version 1.0 after the game has been out now for almost 200 days.

Battlefield 2042 is truly the gift that keeps on giving. I mean that in the most condescending way possible here. Since Battlefield 2042 officially launched on November 19, 2021 it has received zero content updates while the team at DICE worked to make the game less of a steaming mess of a pile. The first season for the game is, at last, finally upon us and with it comes a rather anemic amount of...

Microsoft Makes Java and Bedrock Editions of Minecraft a Single Purchase

You can still play each version separately.

The tale of the two separate versions of Minecraft on PC is an odd one. A while back, if you had purchased the Java version of Minecraft prior to October 19, 2018, you were able to claim a free copy of the non-Java built Bedrock Edition for free. All you had to do was tie your existing Mojang account to your Microsoft account.

If you didn't own the game prior to that 2018 cutoff date, you could still get Minecraft, but you apparently...

  • Poll: Are You a Fan of Paying More to Play Early?
    by Shawn Zipay
Get that Premium Edition and play three days early!

Looks like the latest growing trend with game releases is to offer a more expensive Premium or Gold or whatever edition that grants you access to a game a few days ahead of its official release.

Starfield did it with their $99.99 (USD) Premium Edition. Today, Payday 3 is doing an "Early Access" release with their Silver and Gold editions. Diablo 4 did the same thing earlier in the year, as did Madden NFL 24,...

I think it's kind of dumb that people get to play earlier. Spending more shouldn't offer a "head start" on other paying customers.
