Valve Finally Shows Off New Steam UI Overhaul

An update to the Steam user interface and library has been in the works at Valve for years now. Today, the company finally feels comfortable enough to show off their Steam UI overhaul and did just that during a presentation at GDC 2019. I'd like to first thank Game Informer and PC Gamer (and again) for a lot of the information and screenshots you'll see below.

Library
First up, let's talk about the changes coming to how your Library will look and function with this new update. The Friends list is now integrated into a column on the right side. No idea if this is an optional...

The Outer Worlds, Remedy's Control, Detroit: Become Human, and More Announced as Epic Games Store Timed Exclusives

As part of today's GDC presentation, Epic Games announced a number of timed exclusives that are coming first to the Epic Games Store. Among these games are The Outer Worlds, Control from Remedy Entertainment, and even some PlayStation 4 exclusives like Detroit: Become Human from Quantic Dream.

Some of these titles, such as The Outer Worlds, will also appear on the Microsoft Store for Windows 10. I guess this just lends more confirmation that Epic is less about purchasing exclusives and more about simply paying companies to keep their games off of Steam. Consumers should not...

System Shock 3 GDC Teaser

As part of the Unity keynote at GDC 2019, a new teaser trailer for System Shock 3 was shown off. I suppose that also confirms that System Shock 3 is being built on Unity. I think that was already known prior to this? Perhaps not.

The game is currently in development from OtherSide Entertainment. A release date for the horror title is not yet known. ...

Nvidia Announces Real-time Ray Tracing for Older GTX Cards

Nvidia just announced today that they are bringing real-time ray tracing to their GTX lineup of cards. This support will begin with a driver update currently slated for some time in April.

Get ready to have your framerates destroyed. Think about it this way: Nvidia's RTX cards have special hardware that is dedicated to handling the load of real-time ray tracing. Even with this special hardware, enabling real-time ray tracing still destroys framerates on these new cards.

Now they're going to add support for it on to their older cards? It will certainly make your...

Epic Games Launcher Allegedly Scrapes Local Steam Data Prior to Granting Consent, Epic Responds

Earlier today, Reddit user PhoenixPoint and ResetEra member Madjoki found out that the Epic Games Launcher may be collecting your Steam history at startup. As part of their investigation, they found that at startup, the Epic Games Launcher searches your local computer for a Steam install. If it finds that Steam is installed, it then apparently proceeds to pull a list of files typically stored in your Steam Cloud. This data includes game saves for all users that have logged in to Steam on your computer.

Madjoki also found that it pulls a list of your Steam friends and their name history....

10 Million Users for Black Desert Online Means Special Rewards for You

Pearl Abyss announced that their popular MMORPG Black Desert Online has just hit the milestone of 10 million registered users. That's not saying there are 10 million people actively playing the game but it's still a pretty impressive stat to have accomplished.

To celebrate this milestone, they are going to hold a number of in-game events and giveaways that will reward players with various bonuses.

  • Fallout 76 Walk Speed Reportedly Tied to Framerate, No FOV Slider

Fallout 76 Walk Speed Reportedly Tied to Framerate, No FOV Slider

It sounds as though the Fallout 76 beta is an absolute mess, at least on the PC. It all started when the BethesdaNet client just straight up deleted players' pre-loads for a time last night.

Since then, some additional issues have started to circulate on the Internet.

DSO Gaming reports that the Fallout 76 beta does not include an FOV slider, nor does it include support for 16:10 or 21:9 monitors.

On top of that, it seems as though player movement speed is tied to the framerate of your client. This means that PC players can unlock their framerate via an INI tweak, stare at the ground to increase their framerate, and outrun pretty much anything in the game.

A video from Twitter user @teajayylmao shows this off nicely.

  • Deltarune Released from Undertale Developer

    Deltarune Released from Undertale Developer

Following up on a series of cryptic, yet hopeful, tweets made yesterday from the Undertale Twitter account, a new game has emerged. It's called Deltarune and aside from being a clever anagram of Undertale, it seems to share a lot of similarities to its predecessor.

But you don't have to take my word for it. No, sir. You can try out Deltarune for yourself right now by visiting the Deltarune website.

SUPER IMPORTANT WARNING: It seems as though the uninstaller for Deltarune just straight up deletes the entire directory that the installer is in. So yeah, maybe don't use the uninstaller. You may...

  • Bethesda Warns Fallout 76 Players Not to Touch Anything as It Could Delete Your Game

I cannot even wrap my mind around how something of this magnitude happens. But apparently, if you pre-loaded the Fallout 76 beta, you run the very real risk of having your entire pre-load be deleted if you touch literally any button on the game client.

According to Variety, Bethesda noticed login issues that were affecting the BethesdaNet client. Bethesda Support issued a warning not to touch any button on the client. Those who never saw the warning or chose to ignore it had their pre-loads deleted. Those who were actively downloading the beta or those with a "visible progress bar" should still be okay. Tonight's beta, assum...

Command & Conquer: Rivals Coming to Mobile Devices on December 4

Hey, there's a new Command & Conquer game coming. It's a mobile game.

Command & Conquer: Rivals will hit Android and iOS devices come December 4. It promises to deliver a "fast-paced, RTS action game" built for mobile users. I am confident this will make fans of the older games absolutely thrilled. However, given EA's apparent commitment to seeing this game succeed in a competitive sense, they may actually find something to like here.
Command & Conquer: Rivals will become the next official EA competitive gaming franchise to roll out a complete competitive program, including community tournaments and a championship pro scene. In Command

  • Red Dead Redemption 2 Surpasses $725 Million in 3 Days

Red Dead Redemption 2 Surpasses $725 Million in 3 Days

Red Dead Redemption 2 has apparently achieved the biggest opening weekend of all time across all forms of entertainment. This at least what Rockstar is telling me and why would they lie about their own game release? Do you really think someone would do that? How distrusting you are. So what does "biggest opening weekend of all time" really mean? Well, it means that Red Dead Redemption 2 had the biggest opening weekend in retail sell-through across all media types. It also had the second biggest launch (over three days) across all entertainment releases. I'm not sure what the difference is between being the biggest weekend and being the second biggest launch as it's des...
