Ubisoft Pulls Licenses for The Crew, Makes the Game Completely Inaccessible to Buyers

From the same company trying to sell you a $130 version of Star Wars Outlaws.

From announcing a $130 edition of Star Wars Outlaws to pulling game licenses from those that bought The Crew, Ubisoft sure is on a roll this week.

The Crew was Ubisoft's open-world racing game that was pulled from sale back in December 2023. As of March 31, 2024, Ubisoft shut down the online servers for The Crew. This effectively made the game unplayable across all platforms, including: PC,...

Review: Last Year: The Nightmare (PC)

A solid asymmetrical survival-horror game that's light on content.

Asymmetrical multiplayer games have been going steady for the past few years now. Some of the biggest games in that particular genre include the long departed Evolve, the still ongoing Dead by Daylight, and even Friday the 13th if you're into that sort of thing. You can now add in Last Year: The Nightmare to the mix as it combines 5 versus 1 multiplayer with elements of survival-horror. As with those other titles,...

Steam's Updated DLC Browsing Experience is Kind of Bad

Before this evening, if you wanted to get some DLC for a game that you owned on Steam, it was either shown through a simple dropdown menu on the game's page or as a condensed list on its own page. Today, Valve did away with both of those options and replaced them with a more spread out solution.

These changes are talked about in a new but brief update on the Steam Blog.

Now, all of the DLC is listed on a separate page when you click to view more. If a game...

  • Former Gearbox Lawyer Claims CEO Randy Pitchford Took Secret $12 Million Bonus in Lawsuit Gearbox Claims is 'Absurd'

Buckle up, everyone, because this is going to be a real doozy of a news post.

There are two lawsuits recently filed between Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford and the former general counsel for Gearbox. They're both suing each other, both claiming the other were in violation of their legal responsibilities to the company. The lawsuit against Pitchford from the former Gearbox lawyer Wade Callender says that Pitchford received a secret $12 million bonus from Take-Two Interactive.

Callender's lawsuit, filed December 21, 2018, also says that Pitchford is in violation of some contracts that involve Gearbox and a "separate real estate company" that both of them owned. Gearbox says that these accusations are "absurd" in a brief statement released today by a Gearbox spokesperson. ...

Physical Metro Exodus Pre-Orders Include Exclusive Poster

The week of new Metro Exodus reveals continues today with word of a special bonus for those pre-ordering a physical copy of the game. To recap the week thus far, we've been informed about the game's Photo Mode, and we saw a new story trailer, and then there was the Master Artyom Edition of the game. Apparently there was a "Making of" video released yesterday but no press release hit my inbox, so I'm only now finding out.

But today, today we see that those who pre-order...

Epic and Improbable Create $25 Million Fund to Move Devs Away from Unity

It's been a real rollercoaster of a day for those using the Unity game engine. First, Unity cut off all future support for the online multiplayer platform called SpatialOS. Unity updated their terms of service back on December 4, 2018, and only clarified these changes to the SpatialOS development team at Improbable on January 10, 2019. These changes specifically prevent services like SpatialOS from working with Unity.

SpatialOS is a widely used development toolkit allowed developers...
