So, we are getting a full sequel this year then?

Activision said in February 2022 that there wouldn't be a major Call of Duty release in 2023. Today, Activision announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released on November 10, 2023.

This release date announcement comes from a short teaser trailer for Modern Warfare 3. In the teaser, we get small bits of dialogue from Captain Price and Phillip Graves, the head of Shadow Company. If you played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, you probably wonder what Graves is doing in this trailer, but that's something you'll have to find out later.

In the lead-up to this announcement, several bits of information about Modern Warfare 3 were leaked. We know that this year's release will bring back slide canceling, much to the delight of the multiplayer sweats out there. There were also a fair number of weapons leaked as well as the key art for the game shared over the past week or two.

There is also a Modern Warfare 3 event confirmed to take place within Call of Duty Warzone on August 17.

Though platforms have not yet been announced for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, it's probably safe to expect it to be out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms are also a very real possibility. Who knows, if Microsoft's deal with Activision Blizzard wraps up soon, we might even see Modern Warfare 3 come out on the Switch, and maybe mobile, and maybe the Philips CD-i, and whatever other company Microsoft made promises to.
