  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Sales Surpasses $500 Million in Three Days

The lack of a single player campaign sure as hell doesn't seem to matter to most of the gaming world, as evident by the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has pulled in over $500 million (USD) in worldwide sales just over its launch weekend.

To put it perspective, that is about the same amount that Call of Duty: WWII pulled in last year. However, it is down ever so slightly from Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 that pulled in over $550 million in its first three days.

"Black Ops 4 is off to a blockbuster start," said Activision executive vice president and Call of Duty GM Rob Kostich. "Our player counts and hours played are up year over year, our viewership on Twitch has set new standards and is showing just how fun Blackout is to play and to watch, and the weekend results yet again put Call of Duty at that highest tier of entertainment. Our digital sales results have been record-breaking across all platforms, and the overall performance strong."

So yeah, while it pulled in "only" some $500 million in three days, it still broke various records for Activision. Namely, Black Ops 4 broke day one digital sales records for Activision.

I won't hold my breath for a single player campaign in Call of Duty for the upcoming years. I know it's been said that the campaign will probably be back in next year's release, but after that? I'm not so sure. What I am sure about is the fact that myself and the four other people that actually played the campaigns (even the absolute God awful WWII campaign from last year) will be forever upset. Well, at least until sales start to slip again and they introduce the single player campaign back into the franchise to boost sales back up.
