As promised, Bungie hosted a new gameplay preview for the upcoming Destiny 2 expansion, The Final Shape. In today's fresh preview, Bungie shared some of what will be coming when The Final Shape launches on June 4. This is the date in which Guardians will finally enter into The Pale Heart of the Traveler as they chase after the Witness.
First up on today's reveals is the new Prismatic subclass. This new subclass will combine the powers of both the Light and Darkness. Bungie says that this subclass will offer "new options to enhance and customize each playstyle with a combination of multiple element types." However, as far as the grenades are concerned, it seems like each class will be limited in their approach. For instance, Warlock grenades will be a combination of Stasis and Void, Titans will have Strand and Arc, and Hunters will have Solar and Stasis.
Exotic class items are also arriving with The Final Shape. These would be cloaks for Hunters, Titan marks, and Warlock bonds. These exotic class items will have special, "Exotic-level perks" for the first time ever. Bungie notes that the perks will be randomized, "taking two features from existing Exotic class items (even some belonging to other classes) to enhance the Guardian's ability to customize their gameplay."
A new enemy faction was also announced for The Final Shape. The Dread are "a fierce group of combatants with new abilities." We already saw the Tormentor introduced in Lightfall. Also previously revealed were the Subjugators. Now, the Witness will also send the new Grim, Husk, Attendant, and Weaver after Guardians.
- Grim: A highly mobile flying enemy that slows and suppresses a Guardian’s abilities if they get too close.
- Husk: An acrobatic melee bruiser that sends a deployable geist enemy toward you unless you hit their weak spot with a final blow.
- Attendant and Weaver: By wielding Stasis and Strand, respectively, these units can instantly change the flow of the encounter and force Guardians to pay attention to their positioning on the battlefield.
For those who just do not want to wait until June to play some new Destiny 2 content, you are in luck. Starting today, Destiny 2: Into the Light is available to all players at no additional cost. This content will bridge the two month gap ahead of The Final Shape's release. There is a new wave-based defense activity named Onslaught. Also added are the return of some fan-favorite weapons in both standard and limited-edition variants. There is the new Hall of Champions social space. The Whisper and Zero Hour Exotic missions are also back with several changes made from the original showings of these missions. There is also a new raid boss gauntlet called Pantheon, plus other new things to discover.
