  • Garry's Mod Forced to Pull Nintendo Content from Steam Workshop

It's shocking the content lasted as long as it did.
Characters, items, and objects from New Super Mario Bros. in Garry's Mod.

The Garry's Mod team, Facepunch Studios, announced today that they are in the process of "removing all Nintendo related stuff" from the Steam Workshop. Nintendo, being supremely protective of their intellectual properties, have issued takedown requests for Nintendo related content that users have uploaded.

The notice about the removal of the content calls the takedown requests by Nintendo "fair." They say, "this is Nintendo's content and what they allow and don't allow is up to them." Maybe Nintendo wasn't too fond of the compromising positions players were putting Mario and Pikachu in. Though, why Nintendo waited for nearly two decades to issue takedown requests is quite baffling.

Facepunch says that this is "an ongoing process" given how many years worth of Steam Workshop content they need to work through. The studio is asking users that uploaded Nintendo related content to help them out by deleting those uploads "and never uploading them again."
