How dare they take away the pixelated boobs!

A recent update to Tomb Raider I-III Remastered has removed a couple of "blink and you'll miss them" pinup posters of the titular Lara Croft. Specifically, a couple of tiny posters from Tomb Raider 3's 'Sleeping with the Fishes' level have been removed. Fans speculate that the change came in a recent update for the remastered trilogy of titles.

Naturally, the removal of the pinup posters did not go unnoticed by diehard fans and those just looking for a reason to complain about censorship. The removal of the posters was noticed by Reddit users and has also been brought up on Twitter. I'll just avoid linking to one of the more prominent Twitter accounts that seemed to first bring this up because they seem to be a complete piece of shit that I have no desire to platform even if other sites have no qualms about it. The update that resulted in this change seems to have come out on April 11, roughly two months after the launch of the trilogy. Strangely, the changelog does not include any mention of the posters being removed. So far, neither Aspyr nor Crystal Dynamics has said anything about this change either.

If it was intentional, it seems rather odd given that the official Tomb Raider website shows the posters off in their "10 Remaster Details You Might Have Missed" piece. The developers also kept other content of the games "as is," including keeping potentially offensive depictions of people and cultures. It would be truly bizarre that they would keep those depictions in yet intentionally remove a couple of tiny, blurred posters from a level.
