Ion Fury Devs Apologize for Numerous Sexist, Homophobic, and Transphobic Remarks

Sweeping changes are promised as a result.

Voidpoint, the studio behind the just released Ion Fury, has apologized for a series of "incidents" wherein multiple developers were found to use transphobic, ableist, homophobic, and sexist language in the game's official Discord channel. This is on top of some homophobic language found within the game itself.

Over the weekend, a thread had popped up on gaming forum ResetEra that showed multiple instances where the developers had made transphobic remarks via Discord. Members of the dev team were also shown to make...

Respawn Apologizes to Ass-hat Gamers for 'Ass-hat' Remarks

Statement issued from Respawn's Vince Zampella.

Respawn's CEO Vince Zampella issued a bit of an apology today after members of the Apex Legends development team called a bunch of toxic ass-hat gamers, well... they called them ass-hats. Donning their biggest surprised Pikachu face possible, these Gamers™ got extra angry when they realized they couldn't just keep dishing it out and not expect some form of retaliation in return. Some continued to throw tantrums, others called for boycots, while still others did their best "I studied the blade" impersonation.

Get ready for more Spider-Man.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has officially purchased Insomniac Games today. You're probably surprised to hear that the studio that developed last year's PlayStation 4 exclusive Spider-Man wasn't already owned by Sony prior to this week.

Insomniac Games was first started in 1994 and remained an independent game developer for this 25 year span of time. They created Spyro the Dragon, the Ratchet & Clank games, along with the Resistance franchise. All of these franchises were PlayStation exclusives, at least initially. Every so...

UK Anti-Porn Filter Causing Problems with League of Legends Updates

A forum post on the official League of Legends website shows that some users in the UK are having troubles updating their game due to the anti-porn filter their government put in place.

Apparently, a few files included in the update process contain the word "sex" and are thus not able to obtain the files while updating. I kid you not.

Candy Crush Developer King One Step Away from Trademarking the Word 'Candy'

King, the development studio behind Candy Crush Saga is one step closer to trademarking the word "candy." Oh, come on! Really?! For

    's sake
. Last February, King filed an application to trademark the word "candy" across a variety of products. These ranged from shower caps (what?) to video games. On January 15 of this year, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office once again showed how badly the system is broken approved King's request. According to GameZebo, developers that have used the word "candy" in their games are already starting to get notifications from Apple, on behalf of King, about the trademark infringement. • Microsoft Reportedly Paid Machinima YouTube Creators for Positive Xbox One Mentions

Here I am unable to even get an Xbox One from Microsoft because the "Xbox One hardware is limited" and they "aren't able to accommodate additional requests at this time." I guess perhaps I should have just partnered with Machinima because Microsoft has all the resources in the world ready for them.

Yes, my bitter self was pleased to see that Microsoft is reportedly offering Machinima partners an additional $3 CPM ($3 per thousand video views) if they post videos featuring Xbox One content. Not only that, but there was another campaign that offered an additional $1 CPM for videos that promoted "the Xbox One and its release games" before this latest promotion.

To qualify, partners had to post a video that had at least 30 seconds of Xbox One footage, mention the Xbox One by name, and include a tag of XB1M13. According to Arstechnica, a search of that term turns up over 6,590 video results. But wait, it gets better! It's one thing to reveal to your viewers if you're accep...

  • Garry Newman Says Rust Already Made 40% of What Garry's Mod Made in Nine Years

In an interview with GI.biz, Garry Newman from Facepunch and Garry's Mod fame discusses a bit about his work in progress title, Rust. First up, he revealed that Garry's Mod already sold over 3.5 million copies and making more than $22 million in revenues. Not bad, right?

Well, it's a bit less impressive when you read that Rust, which is still very much an Early Access alpha release, has already earned 40% of the lifetime sales of Garry's Mod. Keep in mind that Rust was also only released through Steam a bit over a month ago at this point, though access was available to users for a short time prior to its release on Steam.
