New 'Experimental' Splinter Cell Game Confirmed by Ubisoft CEO

Open World? GAAS? Mobile? VR?

The emotional rollercoaster that fans of the Splinter Cell series has been on for the past few years has been never ending, has had no chill, and frankly, it's gotten to be a wee bit tiresome. In May of this year, a new Splinter Cell was apparently "confirmed" and then it was later revealed to just be a joke.

Last month, we again heard a rumor that a new Splinter Cell was actually in the works. However, that story from July says that Facebook is financing the game and that it will be a VR only title and exclusive to the Oculus...

Mojang Cancels 'Super Duper Graphics Pack' for Minecraft

Performance issues and engine difficulties were too much to overcome.

Sadly, Mojang announced today that they are cancelling the promised Super Duper Graphics Pack that was originally revealed at E3 2017. This visual overhaul was teased for the game during the annual industry trade show and fans were eager to check it out for themselves.

This was going to be an optional piece of DLC that brought a suite of visual improvements to the Xbox One and PC versions of the game without needing to mod it. Sure, a lot of the visual improvements have been done time and time again...

Call of Duty 2020 Rumored to Be Black Ops Reboot

Next stop: Reboot City.

This year, Call of Duty fans are getting a reboot of the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title. Next year, fans may get a reboot of the Black Ops series. This is if the latest rumors are to be believed.

The 2020 Call of Duty will either be Call of Duty: Black Ops 5 or simply Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game will be set in the Cold War era and will also include the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

This all comes courtesy of YouTuber TheLongSensation via his Twitter account. While it may be easy to just write this off as some random person...

No Man's Sky Beyond Launch Trailer

Update arrives August 14.

A launch trailer for the massive Beyond update for No Man's Sky was released today by Hello Games. This update is said to be the "culmination of 12 months of work" on what was originally going to be three separate, large updates. Those three updates have been rolled into this massive update.

We already touched upon some of the new features and content coming to the game in our last post. The biggest addition, at least for PC and PlayStation VR owners, is the addition of full VR support for No Man's Sky. There are also some additional...

Solos Finally Coming to Apex Legends

But only for a limited time.

Apex Legends will finally allow introverts to play without worry starting on August 13. A Solos Mode will be introduced into the F2P battle royale game. So far, the game has only really allowed for three-man squads.

The addition of Solos Mode is the good news. The bad news is that this mode will only be added to the game for a limited time. This Solos Mode will run from August 13 through August 27 in Apex Legends. Best get your fill of it while you can, because who knows when or if it will come back afterwards. ...

  • Counter-Strike Update for December 9 Still Didn't Nerf the R8 Revolver

Counter-Strike Update for December 9 Still Didn't Nerf the R8 Revolver

Those looking for a nerf or adjustment for the recently added R8 Revolver to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive can probably just go back to your corners to continue moping. Tonight's update actually introduces an interesting new issue with the gun while fixing a few other issues with the game. The gun actually now costs just $700. However, the price for the gun in game still shows $850. Even more interesting is the fact that you need to have $850 on hand to purchase the gun, but upon purchasing it, it only takes away $700. Oh gosh, surely this won't enrage people even more! I'm sure everything will work out just fine for the R8 in the next dozen or so updates to the game. Of course,...

Valve Issues Statement Regarding Steam Security and Trading

Today is the day that the three day hold on trades goes into effect for non-Authenticator users. To go along with today's big change to trading, Valve issued a rather comprehensive statement on why this new policy is going into effect and why account security is so important.

Honestly, it was difficult to pick out any one item to single out from their statement. Below is their entire statement in full.
Compromised accounts and item theft Account theft has been around since Steam began, but with the introduction of Steam Trading, the problem has increased twenty-fold as the number one complaint from our users. Having your account stolen, and your items traded away, is a terrible experience, and we hated that it was becoming more common for our customers. Once an account was compromised, the items would be quickly cleaned out. They'd then

Loophole Allows Destiny Players to Bypass $10 Microtransaction

Yesterday, Bungie released an update that included, among other things, a new Sparrow Racing League. Yes, racing was added to the game. It's a lot of fun and people really seem to be enjoying it. Also included in yesterday's update were a number of new microtransactions. One of which is a $10 SRL Record Book that allows you to keep track of your best race times and overall progress for the next three weeks. Completing the Record Book will get each owner small in-game rewards. Well, it seems as though some people discovered that you don't actually have to purchase the $10 digital book in order to complete it and earn those reward...

Super Smash Bros. Final Presentation Coming December 15

Nintendo will host its final Super Smash Bros. video presentation on December 15 at 2PM (PT). The Nintendo of America Twitter made a note of it earlier today. Given the wording, one can only assume that this means the flow of content for the game will slow to a mere trickle afterwards.

  • Fans Outraged Over Latest CS:GO Update that Introduced a New Gun, Kill Cam, and More

Last night, an update came out for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This wasn't any run of the mill update either, this was a big hefty update that introduced a new weapon, a kill cam, a change in the C4 and round timers, and a bunch of other stuff. Needless to say, fans are upset. The initial burst of outrage came from the usual suspects when it comes to boo-hoo'ing over changes made to the game: The Counter-Strike "pros." They were upset that they might have to do what professionals in other fields do and adjust their game plans a bit due to the changes in the round and C4 timers. Of course, the real star of the show when it comes to complaints from everyone, not just pros, is the R8 Revolver. Everybody has an opinion about it and they sure as hell are going to make sure their opinions are heard and seen far and wide, from the Fields of YouTube to the Reddit Sea. The new R8 Revolver is apparently an AWP that you can hold in the palm of your hand. Most shot...

  • Sony Using 50Hz PAL Versions of PlayStation 2 Games on PlayStation 4

Sony Using 50Hz PAL Versions of PlayStation 2 Games on PlayStation 4

Sony is apparently trying to remain incredibly faithful to the original PlayStation 2 releases of the games they recently put on the PlayStation 4. In the UK, the emulated PS2 releases are again running at 50Hz and converted to a 60Hz output. This creates some weird frame-blending effects that look bad to the player and result in "frame-pacing issues" that resemble micro-stutters or hitching when the framerate is actually perfectly fine. It's quite easy to see the effect in the video below.

Digital Foundry noticed this in a number of games they recently tested.
