On their own, each of these would make for a really short news post. Together, however, they make for one grand news post that any Sonic fan should be excited for. Yesterday, Sega announced that Sonic Mania would be getting a special re-release as Sonic Mania Plus.

This release will include the original Sonic Mania game, plus Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel added as playable characters, a new Encore mode, a four-player competition mode, special holographic packaging that also includes a Genesis reversible cover, a 32-page art book, and more. For those of you wonder who the heck Mighty and Ray are, they're apparently characters that first appeared back in 1993. They teamed up with Sonic in a game called SegaSonic the Hedgehog (aka: SegaSonic Arcade). It was an arcade game that was mainly out only in Japan but saw super limited releases in parts of Europe and North America.

This release is expected to hit stores this Summer. They also noted that this additional digital content will be available as an update to those that already own the base game.

In addition to this news, we have word that there is a new Sonic Racing game currently in development. The reveal comes by way of a short teaser.
