Ion Fury Devs Apologize for Numerous Sexist, Homophobic, and Transphobic Remarks

Sweeping changes are promised as a result.

Voidpoint, the studio behind the just released Ion Fury, has apologized for a series of "incidents" wherein multiple developers were found to use transphobic, ableist, homophobic, and sexist language in the game's official Discord channel. This is on top of some homophobic language found within the game itself.

Over the weekend, a thread had popped up on gaming forum ResetEra that showed multiple instances where the developers had made transphobic remarks via Discord. Members of the dev team were also shown to make...

Respawn Apologizes to Ass-hat Gamers for 'Ass-hat' Remarks

Statement issued from Respawn's Vince Zampella.

Respawn's CEO Vince Zampella issued a bit of an apology today after members of the Apex Legends development team called a bunch of toxic ass-hat gamers, well... they called them ass-hats. Donning their biggest surprised Pikachu face possible, these Gamers™ got extra angry when they realized they couldn't just keep dishing it out and not expect some form of retaliation in return. Some continued to throw tantrums, others called for boycots, while still others did their best "I studied the blade" impersonation.

Sony Bought Insomniac Games Today

Get ready for more Spider-Man.

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has officially purchased Insomniac Games today. You're probably surprised to hear that the studio that developed last year's PlayStation 4 exclusive Spider-Man wasn't already owned by Sony prior to this week.

Insomniac Games was first started in 1994 and remained an independent game developer for this 25 year span of time. They created Spyro the Dragon, the Ratchet & Clank games, along with the Resistance franchise. All of these franchises were PlayStation exclusives, at least initially. Every so...

Valve Confirms Holiday Sale ARG is Not About Half-Life 3

This past week, fans have been eagerly hanging on to every word and clue revealed in an apparent Valve ARG born from the Steam Holiday Sale 2015. There was even an apparent lambda symbol found!

Well, it seems it's all for not. Someone received an email response from Valve's Marc Laidlaw, who made sure to crush everyone's hopes and dreams of this being anything related to Half-Life 3.

And for those who don't want to (or can't) read Laidlaw's response in the above image:

Lambda Symbol Possibly Revealed in Apparent Valve Winter Sale ARG

Valve might have hidden a bunch of secret clues in this latest Winter Sale of theirs. To make a super long story short, a bunch of people have been finding clues in backgrounds, web pages, and more during this latest Steam Winter Sale for 2015.

In fact, they have gone so far as to unlock a special badge (seen below), which you can earn yourself (at least at the time of this posting). All you need to do is open up this Steam store link in Chrome, type in (without clicking anything ahead of time) the word "search", hit "enter" on your keyboard, and then input the password of "1v7531" into the new dialogue box that pops up. There you go, you have the Red Herring badge now. ...

Final Fantasy IX Coming to PC and Mobile Soon

Square Enix is finally bringing Final Fantasy IX to a platform outside of the PlayStation! In 2016, Final Fantasy IX will finally be released on the PC and mobile (Android, iOS) platforms.

Square Enix notes that the classic RPG will be "coming soon" to Japan. Sadly, they did not yet reveal their plans, if any, for bringing the game to the States. I'm sure it will happen eventually. The game will include "high-definition graphics, newly added achievements, auto-save, high speed mode, and several game boosting features." I've been waiting a long time for this.

  • Just Cause 3 Multiplayer - From the People that Brought you Multiplayer in Just Cause 2

Valve Issues Apology to Steam Users Following Christmas Day Security Leaks

Valve had released a short statement on the matter, but o nly to outlets that contacted them for a statement. No mailings were sent out to users, nor was a longer statement made. Today, that longer statement was made by Valve. You can read it in its entirety below.
We'd like to follow up with more information regarding Steam's troubled Christmas.

  • Valve Claims 'No Unauthorized Actions' Took Place During Today's Steam Security Issue

Earlier today, Steam went a little nuts. Since the initial story broke, it seems as though Valve has fixed the issue that exposed full names, addresses, and phone numbers of Steam users. The issue in question was merely "caching issue" that allowed Steam users to view the account details of other Steam users.

Valve issued a brief statement on what happened to Kotaku.
Steam is back up and running without any known issues. As a result of a configuration change earlier today, a caching issue allowed some users to randomly see pages generated for other users for a period of less than an hour. This issue

  • [UPDATED] Steam Security Issue Allows Users to View Private Account Details, Possibly Make Purchases, and More

Update (6:03PM ET): It looks as though the issue is resolved with the Store. After a lengthy period of being offline completely, the Store pages returned and seem to be in working order.

Of course, the extent of the damages from this afternoon's security breach are not yet known. We'll have more details are they are made available.

If you've been on Steam today, chances are you've already experienced this issue. If you log into Steam, you may see that you are "logged into" another user's account, but only on the Store page. This means you can view some random person's Wishlist, their friends, what games their friends want, and worse. What'...
