  • PC Retail Version of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Apparently Includes Just a Steam Installer

    Some fans have already managed to pick up the retail release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for the PC. That's all well and good, early releases happen all the time. What isn't good is that Konami apparently only included a Steam installer on the disc. That's it.

    This has so far been "confirmed" by at least one person. Now, whether or not this person is simply trolling the world remains to be seen, so take this news with as much salt as you feel comfortable taking.

    If true, this sadly wouldn't be the first time that a modern PC release included the bare minimum on the disc. I'm not saying this to defend Konami as this is still a really shitty thing to do, I'm merely saying that it's not all that uncommon.

        Is it just a Steam installer or does it come with an activation code for the game too?
        Because it would be pretty funny if Konami were selling Steam to people.

          Man just read this while doing my daily news surf and honestly its bit upsetting. Id rather just buy it on Steam but seeing as how i love building a physical library ill probably get it from the store.

          Anyways this game is a must and specially on PC!

            cikame: I believe it came with a code too. Just the installer alone would have been completely useless instead of just mostly useless.

            Eagle101: Yeah, this is terrible for those on limited bandwidth plans that almost rely on physical retail releases. Also agreed that this game is a must. 3.5 hours in and LOVING it. Going to be playing and streaming more shortly once I get some site stuff done.
