Konami Barred Hideo Kojima from Appearing at The Game Awards 2015

Tonight, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain won for best Action game and best Soundtrack. When the award was presented on stage for best Action title, Kiefer Sutherland went up to accept the reward on behalf of Hideo Kojima. Why wasn't Hideo Kojima in attendance? He usually is.

During the presentation, Geoff Keighley explained why Hideo Kojima was not in attendance to accept the award. The reason is simple: Konami sucks.
"As you noticed Hideo Kojima is not here with us tonight and I want to tell you a little bit about that," explained Keighley. "Mr. Kojima had every intention of being with us tonight but unfortunately he

  • Latest Patch Provides a Really Stupid Way to Bring a Certain Metal Gear Solid V Character Back

At some point during the second act for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, you end up losing a partner. Once they're gone, they're gone for good. That is unless of course you were playing on the PC and added them back by slightly modifying a file or two. If you were consoles, well that's just too damn bad.

Konami released a new patch for The Phantom Pain recently that now provides an official, albeit really stupid, way to get aforementioned character back. I'll say it right now that I'm going to stop beating around the bush here and there will be major spoilers in the rest of this news post. Got it? Good. In the sec...

Konami Confirms Closure of LA Studio

A rumor we reported on yesterday has sadly been confirmed today. Konami has confirmed that they have closed their LA studio, the studio once known as Kojima Productions LA. This is the same studio that led development on Metal Gear Online for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

"Konami has made the decision to close its Los Angeles Studio, effective immediately, due to the product development resources being restructured into a more centralized unit. This facility contributed to the recent Metal Gear Solid games. Konami will continue its operations to support all Metal Gear Solid titles, including the recently

Rumor: Konami Shuts Down Kojima Productions LA

A rumor from George Broussard says that Konami has shut down Kojima Productions LA. With this potential closure, some 35 jobs have just been lost.

The rumor is just that, a rumor for right now. If true, however, this could spell disaster for any potential updates for Metal Gear Online, the competitive game mode that was recently added to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on consoles. The PC release of Metal Gear Online was (and still is as far as we're aware) slated for release on the PC early in 2016.

    Fox Engine Overseer Quits Konami

Julien Merceron, the overseer on the Fox Engine, has reportedly quit Konami. The news originally broke on Gameblog (via IGN).

Merceron joined Konami in 2013 as the Worldwide Technology Director. During this time, he oversaw the creation of the Fox Engine and its use in both the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise and Metal Gear Solid V. Before that, he worked at IO Interactive, Eidos, Crystal Dynamics, and Square Enix. Specific reasons for his departure were not made, but it could be a safe assumption that Konami's shifting focus on mobile and pachinko probably have something to do with it....
