An unexpected crossover.

On Tuesday, July 9 through Tuesday, July 16 a crossover event will see Dead Space invading Battlefield 2042. For that limited time, Outbreak will be a featured game mode and players will also be able to get some Dead Space themed cosmetic items.

New in-game event begins May 28th.

DICE just shared the first details on the upcoming Future Strike event for Battlefield 2042. This upcoming in-game event will be free to all Battlefield 2042 players and is expected to run from May 28 through to June 10, 2024.

The Crimson Front Event also kicked off today.

Update 7.1.0 for Battlefield 2042 is out today alongside the start of the Crimson Front Event. Beyond the return of the Frontline game type for Crimson Front, today's update includes some changes that will hopefully tone down some of the ridiculous weapon recoil changes that were introduced at the start of Season 7.

DICE and EA are ready to bring Battlefield 2042 development to an end. Once Season 7 concludes, that will be it. There will be no more Seasons and no more new content. Seven seasons really isn't too bad considering the game was initially only supposed to have four seasons of post-launch content.

Bug fixes are incoming.

The seventh season of Battlefield 2042 launched last week alongside Update 7.0.0. This week, DICE shared news of Update 7.0.1 that they hope to deploy on Tuesday, April 2nd.

This update is a minor one, as you can probably tell from the version number. It does include a few game breaking fixes for issues that were seemingly introduced as part of Update 7.0.0, but nothing particularly major is included in this new update.

Season 7 is called Turning Point.

DICE and EA just shared the first proper look at Battlefield 2042's seventh season, Turning Point. This new season will begin on March 19 and includes two new maps, a new vehicle, new weapons, a new gadget, and various gameplay improvements. DICE says that this new season "brings the most new content to Battlefield 2042 since launch."

Marcus Lehto is no longer working at Ridgeline Games, the studio that Electronic Arts created in 2021 to focus on a new Battlefield narrative campaign following the initial lackluster response to Battlefield 2042. On February 13, 2024, a collaboration between EA, BioWare, and Bungie will see some Mass Effect themed cosmetics arrive in Destiny 2. The Normandy Crew Bundle will be available to Destiny 2 players that want to spend real money via the in-game Eververse store.
