  • Battlefield V 2019 Roadmap Reveals New Map Releases and New Theater of War

DICE has finally provided the roadmap for Battlefield V through Fall 2019. Included in this roadmap are mentions of new maps, which look to begin in May, and a new theater of war. Given the name of the new theater, Awakening the Giant, slated for Fall 2019, is the upcoming theater of war.

Given the title of that new theater, I think it's safe to say that they're referencing the United States. This is based off of the famous quote from Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto in reference to the United States following the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan.

    If there's...

Apex Legends Season 1 'Wild Frontier' Update is Out Now

The first major season for Apex Legends is now available. Respawn is calling this season "Wild Frontier" and with it comes a bunch of "seasonal swag" for players to earn. It also comes alongside the release of the Wild Frontier Battle Pass.

The Battle Pass comes in two flavors. The first, priced at 950 Apex Coins, grants you access to the Pass. Play to level the Pass up to get more rewards. You can also spend 2,800 Apex Coins to get the Battle Pass Bundle that includes the Pass and a shortcut that unlocks the first 25 levels instantly.

    As with...

  • Battlefield 5 'Firestorm' Battle Royale Reveal Trailer and First Details

The upcoming battle royale mode for Battlefield 5 was finally revealed today thanks to an all-new trailer. The trailer doesn't show actual gameplay, but it does offer an "in-engine" look at some of the antics you and your crew will get up to.

I suppose I should preface this by saying Firestorm is the name of this new mode. It's slated to be added to Battlefield 5, free of charge to everyone that owns the game, on March 25.

Firestorm finds 64 players battling it out to be the last one standing in a match. The map size is said to be "ten times larger...

BioWare Releases Anthem 1.0.3 Patch in Rare Saturday Update

The 1.0.3 patch for Anthem just dropped earlier today for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 players. While it isn't unnecessarily unusual to see another patch released for a game that has had a few issues, it is unusual to see a patch released on a weekend. Yet here we are on a Saturday talking about the latest patch for the game. That's fine, I didn't want a day off either.

Notable changes in this patch include a huge number of fixes and improvements to the game. These include fixes for crashes, fixes for Titans that spawned too frequently, and more. BioWare has also provided...

  • Players Discover that Anthem's Most Powerful Weapons are the Ones You Start With

Today, a little "PSA" went up on the Anthem subreddit that says clearly that the level 1 weapons players start the game with are the most powerful weapons in the game.

If you think that doesn't make much sense, you would be correct but there are multiple confirmations showing that this is indeed what is going on. Reddit user YeetLordSupreme found that a level 1 common Defender rifle can take down a basic enemy in just four shots. Meanwhile, they found that their level 45 masterwork "Ralner's Blaze" rifle takes six shots to take down the very same enemy.

This is in spite of the basic weapon showing damage of just 286 per shot compared to the 1184 damage per shot with the level 45 weapon. ...

Apex Legends Surpasses 50 Million Players and 1 Mozambique Kill

It feels like less than a month ago when we found out that Apex Legends was sitting at over 25 million players. Oh, it was less than a month ago when that news popped up. Today, the team at Respawn Entertainment announced that they have now surpassed 50 million unique players.

If you do the math, that's about... carry the 1, divide the 0... yeah, that's double what they were at back on February 11. There isn't too much else to add here. In case you don't know, Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game from Respawn Entertainment. Right now the game is limited to three-person...

  • DICE Buffs Shotguns in March 5 Update for Battlefield 5

DICE Buffs Shotguns in March 5 Update for Battlefield 5

DICE has already provided the patch notes for the Battlefield V update that is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, March 5. This is "Update #4" for Battlefield V Tides of War Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes. Yeah, their naming conventions on these updates are a bit annoying, I agree.

Of the changes included in this update, we're going to see an overall buff to the shotguns in the game. DICE somehow came to the conclusion that they were now weaker than SMGs? I, uh, hm... well, that's one way to look at it. You can either read the changes via this PDF link from DICE...

Respawn's Star Wars Game Reveal Coming in April

We will finally get to see what Respawn Entertainment has been working on that isn't called Apex Legends. The studio has been working for quite some time now on a new Star Wars title and come April we will finally get our first details.

StarWars.com announced today that EA and Respawn will reveal Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order during the Star Wars Celebration in April. This event runs from April 11 through April 15 in Chicago.

With any luck, it will include more than mere discussion for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. We will hopefully get to see a trailer...

    Anthem Officially Launches Today

Despite the game being available now since February 15 under some circumstances, today marks the day in which Anthem has "officially" been released. While Origin Access and EA Access subscribers have already had a chance to play and, in some cases, "complete" the game, this will be the first time most players will get to dive in.

Today's release is accompanied by the "day one" patch, which we already provided the changelog for the other day. Anthem allows you and some friends (or random people if you prefer) to assume the role of Freelancers....

Day One Patch Notes for Anthem Released

The "day one patch" for Anthem has just been detailed by BioWare and EA. This is the update that will be required for players to download prior to hopping into Anthem on February 22. As far as I can see, this update has not yet been released to those playing on either EA Access or Origin Access.

The update contains a decent list of fixes and quality of life improvements. Notably, it addresses the overly long loading times that many players have been very vocally complaining about. It also helps to address infinite loading screen issues, crash bugs, and more.

The full list of changes can be found below. ...

  • First Apex Legends Update Released, Includes Performance and Stability Improvements

Respawn just released the first ever update for their insanely popular, free-to-play battle royale title, Apex Legends. This first update includes the usual when it comes to the first handful of patches for a game. I'm talking about stability improvements, bug fixes, and some performance optimizations.

In addition, the team also dropped some new Valentines Day cosmetics to the store. These will be available to pick up until February 19, 2019.

This patch is specifically being called the "Preseason Patch 01" because it, well, arrived before the start of...

Apex Legends Surpasses 25 Million Players

It was only four days ago now that we told you about how Apex Legends hit the 10 million player count. It was at that time that we also learned the game had over one million concurrent players, which is another huge milestone.

Today, EA and Respawn Entertainment announced that Apex Legends has surpasses 25 million players. Not only that, but Vince Zampella revealed that the game has "well over 2 million" concurrent players. This milestone has been achieved in just one week of the game being made available to the public from Respawn and EA. Respawn's Vince Zampella...

  • Battlefield 5 Adds Combined Arms Co-op, Balancing, and More in Tomorrow's Update

A patch that is tentatively slated to be released tomorrow, February 12, will add in some new content and features for Battlefield 5 players. Some of these new features include a four-player co-op game mode called Combined Arms. The update will also add in DLSS support and better RTX support for those using supported cards.

DLSS is a new technology that, in simple terms, makes the game look better and perform better through machine learning. It's mainly useful for resolutions at 4K or better and should, in theory, constantly result in better performance and near identical...

    Anthem Post-Launch Roadmap Partially Revealed

BioWare seems like they're committed to delivering a fairly steady stream of fresh content and updates for Anthem after it's released. Today, the Anthem team revealed a partial roadmap of what players can expect in the months ahead for the game.

Granted, we only get a real detailed look at the content that starts to come out in March, but it's better than nothing. March kicks off Act 01: Echoes of Reality. Acts 02 and 03 are teased, but their starting dates or what they will bring to the table were not revealed just yet.

You can get a look at the detailed Act...
