Progress Made on Microsoft Deal with CMA on Activision Blizzard Acquisition

The CMA says they have "limited residual concerns" over the new deal.

In April 2023, the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) blocked Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Their major hang-up were over concerns about cloud gaming of all things. Since then, the acquisition deal was approved by the European Commission and even the Federal Trade Commission (much to their chagrin).

With the only roadblock remaining being the CMA's approval, it looks...

XDefiant Delayed After Failing to Receive Console Certification

The release has been pushed to between September and October.

Ubisoft's upcoming free-to-play FPS, XDefiant, has been delayed by a wee bit. This is due to the fact that the game has been refused certification by both Microsoft and Sony. This moves the release date from the end of August (which has obviously come and go) to anywhere between the middle of September to the middle of October.

The certification process for XDefiant began near the end of July for PlayStation...

Assassin's Creed Mirage Releasing a Week Earlier

Hurrah for a change in release date that isn't a delay.

Ubisoft Back on their Exclusive Storefront BS Again

Several upcoming titles are not headed to Steam.

Remember how in November 2022, Ubisoft made this big return to Steam? Since the initial release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla on Valve's platform, Ubisoft released several other newer titles. It looked like Ubisoft was playing a bit of catchup with releases on Steam after several of these titles enjoyed long exclusivity periods on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft's own storefront, Ubisoft Connect.

    With this trickle of Ubisoft...

Far Cry 5 Receives 60fps Patch on Xbox and PlayStation

You will need a newer generation console for this, of course.

In honor of the game's fifth anniversary, Ubisoft rolled out a new 60fps patch for Far Cry 5. This update, out now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will allow you to run the game at a much higher framerate than what you were used to seeing on consoles.

This 60fps update doesn't seem to include anything else. Meaning, you won't see any next-gen graphical bells and whistles here. I am reading from some users...
