A new mutated zombie slaying game, courtesy of the mind of John Carpenter (The Thing, Halloween, Escape from New York), made its debut at the Summer Game Fest. John Carpenter's Toxic Commando from Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive will let you join up with some friends to kill hordes of the undead. It is expected to be out in 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
The game intentionally features some over the top gameplay along with Carpenter's 80s horror vibes.
There will be an upcoming closed beta test for John Carpenter's Toxic Commando. It doesn't appear to have a date yet, but you can probably say it's a safe bet that you'll get to play this beta before release.

In the near future, an experimental attempt to harness the power of the Earth’s core ends in a terrifying disaster: the release of the Sludge God. Take control of one of the commandos, team up with your friends, and send the Sludge God and its horde of things-that-should-never-be back to the underworld. Choose the class that matches your playstyle, pile into your favorite ride, and unload an array of gunfire, grenades, special abilities, and freaking katanas as you save the planet!
