A unique tale from John Carpenter.

A new mutated zombie slaying game, courtesy of the mind of John Carpenter (The Thing, Halloween, Escape from New York), made its debut at the Summer Game Fest. John Carpenter's Toxic Commando from Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive will let you join up with some friends to kill hordes of the undead. It is expected to be out in 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

The game intentionally features some over the top gameplay along with Carpenter's 80s horror vibes.

There will be an upcoming closed beta test for John Carpenter's Toxic Commando. It doesn't appear to have a date yet, but you can probably say it's a safe bet that you'll get to play this beta before release.

You may not be the best team of mercenaries — but you are a Toxic Commando!

In the near future, an experimental attempt to harness the power of the Earth’s core ends in a terrifying disaster: the release of the Sludge God. This eldritch abomination begins terraforming the area, turning soil to scum and the living to undead monsters. Luckily, the genius behind the experiment has a plan to make things right. All he needs is a team of competent, highly trained mercenaries to get the job done.

Unfortunately, they were all too expensive. Which is why he’s hired… the Toxic Commandos!

Take control of one of the commandos, team up with your friends, and send the Sludge God and its horde of things-that-should-never-be back to the underworld. Choose the class that matches your playstyle, pile into your favorite ride, and unload an array of gunfire, grenades, special abilities, and freaking katanas as you save the planet!

Whether behind the wheel of a vehicle or on foot, players will face off against massive hordes of mutated creatures, all powered by Saber's Swarm Engine, the technology behind World War Z: Aftermath and the upcoming Space Marine 2.

This trailer "brings the game's buddy-movie-meets-over-the-top-action spirit to life in vibrant cartoon form." The animations were created by Gizmo Animation. John "Master...

Built on the same engine that powered World War Z and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Toxic Commando will have you facing tons of "grotesque zombie hordes and towering bosses" straight out of the '80s.

On the surface, Toxic Commando is a co-op shooter akin to something like Left 4 Dead or even World War Z. The game...
