In case you did not know yet, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was released today from BioWare and EA. This release brings the three original Mass Effect titles up to some modern standards of beauty. It was released today on PC via Origin and Steam, along with the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. There is also some "optimized backwards compatibility" for those of you playing on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

If you somehow still don't know what this release is all about, where have you been for our coverage of this game over the past several months? This release offers up graphically improved and gameplay enhanced releases of Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 in one package. This includes all of the DLC except for Pinnacle Station and the multiplayer DLC (as multiplayer isn't included).

You're getting better looking textures, lighting, 4K support, HDR support, better shadows, volumetrics, and more. There are also some gameplay and bug fixes that made it in to this release across all three titles.

“There’s never been a better opportunity to experience the epic story of the original trilogy, whether you're new to the franchise, or looking to replay it for the 10th time,” said Mac Walters, Project Director on the Mass Effect Legendary Edition and lead writer of the original trilogy at BioWare. “This isn’t just a passion project for our team at BioWare, it’s something we know the fans have wanted for a very long time, and we’ve dedicated all of our efforts to make sure every enhancement we’ve made to this iconic journey feels like Mass Effect. We could not be more excited to share this moment with our fans around the world and look forward to hearing their personal stories as Shepard again.”
