Blizzard officially announced the return of the Overwatch Anniversary event for 2018. The event will run from May 22 through June 11.

On May 22, a new Overwatch Legendary Edition will be released that includes the 5 Origin skins and 10 additional skins. The Anniversary event itself will supposedly come with 8 new legendary skins, 3 new epic skins, 3 new dance emotes for Doomfist, Moira, and Brigitte, and 36 additional items to unlock.

During the event, all cosmetics are available to be earned through lootboxes. This obviously includes all prior event items from every past event that the game has had until now. Those who log in during this time will get a free legendary lootbox that is guaranteed to contain at least one non-duplicate legendary item. You can get a second free legendary lootbox if you purchase a bundle of 50 lootboxes during this time.

A new map will be added to the Deathmatch game mode. This map is called Petra and is exclusive to the deathmatch mode. Those who don't like deathmatch can always dive into any of the previous brawls that the game offered as these will all also be made available.

If you don't yet own Overwatch, Blizzard is offering a free weekend for the game on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. This free weekend runs from May 25 - May 28.
