The design of heroes, both visually and gameplay-wise, always sparked heated debates in the Overwatch community. Some of these videos are so in-depth that they analyze everything from how the particular skin fits the hero’s backstory to the color palette.

Naturally, when the latest hero, Sigma, entered the Overwatch scene, people immediately started talking. That isn’t a new phenomenon in the gaming world, and in the context of a Blizzard...

    Role Queue Announced for Overwatch

Play the role you want without issues.

Blizzard is adding an update to their matchmaking and queuing systems for Overwatch soon. Role Queue will allow you to choose and confirm which role you would like to play before a match can even begin. Choose to be a tank, support, or damage class and their system will queue you with others who have selected the other roles.

This will ensure that each match has players in it that will result in two tanks, two supports, and two damage characters per team. These players will then get to select heroes within their chosen roles. At...

New 'Safe Haven' Cinematic for World of Warcraft

    Hey look, it's Thrall!

Blizzard released a new cinematic video today for World of Warcraft. We see Varok Saurfang paying a visit to an old leader of the Horde. This particular cinematic is for the Rise of Azshara content update (8.2) for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. This new content update includes features like equipment slots on mounts, new zones (Nazjatar & Mechagon), a new raid (Azshara's Eternal Palace), and more.

Now, can someone explain to me why Blizzard just hasn't made their own full-length film yet? Because it seems like it's a thing that totally...

World of Warcraft Classic Release Date Set for August 27

Time to bust out those rose tinted glasses.

Blizzard officially announced today that World of Warcraft Classic will be released this year. The re-release of the classic game is based off of the 1.12.0 version of the game that originally came out in late 2006. Though the release of Classic will include some "modern conveniences," it will largely still be the old WoW that you know and remember loving.

The release date is set for August 27, but some players will get to partake of the old-timey action a bit earlier. Starting the week of May 22, some of those with...

Blizzard Will Not Release Any Major Games in 2019

Yesterday, news about Blizzard's upcoming year got a bit lost in the shuffle and understandably so. However, during yesterday's earnings call with investors, it was revealed that Blizzard has no "frontline release" planned for the 2019 fiscal year.

In short: This means they aren't going to release any new titles in the next year. Yes, this includes the oft pined for desktop Diablo 4.

Activision Blizzard president Collister Johnson had this to say during the call.

That seems about as straight to the point as you can get....

  • Activision Blizzard Lays Off Nearly 800 Employees Right After Announcing 'Record Year'

This evening, Activision Blizzard began to inform numerous employees that they will be let go from the company. The layoffs started shortly after the conclusion of an earnings call made this afternoon. The company says that they will be eliminating 8% of its total staff. As of 2018, Activision Blizzard employed around 9,600 people. If this figure holds up, that means at least 770 people are now out of work.

Those impacted by the layoffs are spread out across multiple Activision Blizzard departments. This includes Activision's publishing division, Blizzard, High Moon, and King....

Soldier: 76 Confirmed to Be Gay in Latest Overwatch Short Story

Blizzard released a new short story for Overwatch today entitled Bastet. The latest story delivers heaping helpings of lore for those of you who are into that sort of thing.

Among the big reveals in Bastest are little snippets in the lives of the Overwatch fighters from days long gone. For instance, we find out how Ana lost her eye. We learn that Reinhardt is not very good at stealth. And perhaps the biggest news, at least for those who make all of the rule 34 drawings, is the fact that Soldier: 76 is gay.

The reveal came about as Ana catches Soldier: 76 going...

  • Blizzard Attempting to Clean up Twitch Chat Dumpster Fire by Tying Accounts to Battle.net

If you've ever been on Twitch for even a small amount of time, you probably have a decent idea of just how downright terrible the chat experience can be. It is especially egregious in larger chats and chats that lack proper moderation, filters, or spam reduction modes enabled. Even then, it's still kind of garbage. Blizzard realizes this and they are apparently taking their own steps to try to make the chat experience a little bit less crap.

The studio announced that they will soon require anybody interested in chatting during various Overwatch matches to tie their Twitch...

Blizzard Reportedly Pulled Diablo 4 Announcement from BlizzCon (Updated)

I figure an entirely new news post for this would be appropriate. Yesterday, it was reported from Kotaku's Jason Schreier that Blizzard had apparently pulled a Diablo 4 announcement at the last minute from BlizzCon 2018.

A video had apparently been recorded featuring Blizzard's co-founder Allen Adham talking to fans about a new Diablo project. The original statement says that Blizzard pulled this video announcement from BlizzCon 2018 at the last minute. Blizzard has since come forward to make a public statement about this, saying that no, this wasn't the case at all.
