Soldier: 76 Confirmed to Be Gay in Latest Overwatch Short Story

Blizzard released a new short story for Overwatch today entitled Bastet. The latest story delivers heaping helpings of lore for those of you who are into that sort of thing.

Among the big reveals in Bastest are little snippets in the lives of the Overwatch fighters from days long gone. For instance, we find out how Ana lost her eye. We learn that Reinhardt is not very good at stealth. And perhaps the biggest news, at least for those who make all of the rule 34 drawings, is the fact that Soldier: 76 is gay.

The reveal came about as Ana catches Soldier: 76 going...

  • Blizzard Attempting to Clean up Twitch Chat Dumpster Fire by Tying Accounts to Battle.net

If you've ever been on Twitch for even a small amount of time, you probably have a decent idea of just how downright terrible the chat experience can be. It is especially egregious in larger chats and chats that lack proper moderation, filters, or spam reduction modes enabled. Even then, it's still kind of garbage. Blizzard realizes this and they are apparently taking their own steps to try to make the chat experience a little bit less crap.

The studio announced that they will soon require anybody interested in chatting during various Overwatch matches to tie their Twitch...

PSA: Battle.net and Blizzard Gear Black Friday Sale

Are you noticing a theme concerning today's news yet? No? Ok.

Blizzard and Activision, by way of their Battle.net client, also have a Black Friday sale underway. The sale, which began today, runs until November 26 (Overwatch sale lasts until the 28th for some reason) and includes discounts of up to 75% on games, bundles, upgrades, services, and more.

Do you want Overwatch: Legendary Edition for just $19.99 (USD)? You got it. How's about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for $47.99? Yep, that's there too. Want to play some Diablo but you lack a phone? Then perhaps you would like to get Diablo III for just $9.99. But what...

Blizzard Reportedly Pulled Diablo 4 Announcement from BlizzCon (Updated)

I figure an entirely new news post for this would be appropriate. Yesterday, it was reported from Kotaku's Jason Schreier that Blizzard had apparently pulled a Diablo 4 announcement at the last minute from BlizzCon 2018.

A video had apparently been recorded featuring Blizzard's co-founder Allen Adham talking to fans about a new Diablo project. The original statement says that Blizzard pulled this video announcement from BlizzCon 2018 at the last minute. Blizzard has since come forward to make a public statement about this, saying that no, this wasn't the case at all.

Blizzard Reportedly Pulled Diablo 4 Announcement from BlizzCon

A new report from Kotaku's Jason Schrier says that Blizzard pulled a Diablo 4 announcement from BlizzCon ahead of the annual event. Last week, the single Diablo reveal was for Diablo Immortal, a new game coming exclusively to mobile devices running Android and iOS.

Naturally, people were upset. This is despite Blizzard and the Diablo developers saying that they have "multiple teams working on different Diablo projects" but they would not talk about all of them during BlizzCon 2018.

Warcraft 3 is Getting the Remake Treatment

It also includes the usual Warcraft 3 features such as a lengthy 62 mission campaign that takes you all over Azeroth, four different races all with unique units and abilities, custom games, and player-created game types.

There is a Standard Edition that is priced at $29.99 (USD) and a Spoils of War Edition for $39.99. The Spoils of War Edition includes the following bonuses:

Diablo Immortal Announced for Mobile Devices

Blizzard announced and revealed quite a bit of Diablo Immortal today, a new entry in the popular franchise that is coming to a mobile device near you.

Wait! Hold up! Yes, it's a mobile Diablo game, but take a look at it this way: Instead of clicking a mouse thousands of times with your finger, you are tapping a screen with the same finger for just as many times. It's almost like it's the same thing but on a smaller screen. Yeah? Yeah, ok then let's check out what this is all about then.
Enter the world of Diablo Immortal, a new entry in the Diablo universe. Featuring the fluid hack-and-slash action role playing game experience you know and love, this visually stunning mobile experience

BlizzCon Virtual Ticket Includes World of Warcraft Classic Demo Access

Blizzard just made the BlizzCon 2018 Virtual Ticket a bit more appealing for those who may not have felt like $49.99 (USD) was worth it quite yet. The studio revealed that shortly after the opening ceremony for November 2 (near 1PM PT), players will be able to download the still in development BlizzCon WoW Classic Demo that those actually at the event will get to try on the show floor.

It is perhaps important to know that this year's Virtual Ticket is $10 more than the previous year. There also doesn't seem to be a pet or mount included with this year's ticket either? So maybe that time limited demo won't be enough to change your mind. That's up to you to decide. ...

Battle for Azeroth is the Fastest Selling World of Warcraft Expansion

Blizzard announced today that sales of the Battle for Azeroth expansion for World of Warcraft have outpaced any other expansion previously released for the game.

The development studio says that sales of Battle for Azeroth sold more than 3.4 million units by the end of the first full day following launch. They go on to say that this breaks day-one sales records not only for the franchise but also made it one of the "fastest-selling PC games of all-time."

Overwatch Has a New D.Va Focused Animated Short and New Busan Map

Doritos, Mountain Dew, D.Va, and music. They all go together like Jif Peanut Butter, Smucker's jelly, and poor attempts at SEO for a gaming website.

Today at Gamescom, Blizzard had a lovely presentation, which you can see in its entirety courtesy of Blizzplanet. But since this presentation video is mostly in German and of the "skaky cam" variety, you may want to pass on it and instead watch these direct feed videos of the new content that was announced.

First and foremost is the announcement and release of the new Busan map for Overwatch. It's a new Control Point style map that you can actually test for yourself right now by downloading and installing...

  • Diablo 3: Eternal Collection Confirmed for Nintendo Switch, Additional Details and Trailer Revealed

Yesterday, Forbes prematurely leaked the announcement of Diablo III: Eternal Collection for the Nintendo Switch. Today, the official announcement was made and while there isn't too much more to expand upon, there is a trailer to check out. It should be noted that in addition to the Ganondorf transmog effect for your character's armor, Switch owners will also get a cucco pet, a portrait frame that looks like the Trifoce, and a set of cosmetic wings that you can put on your characters. The Switch release will also allow players to hop directly into the Adventure Mode without the need to complete the campaign first. The Adventure Mode is less about telling a...

Diablo 3 Confirmed for Nintendo Switch via Forbes Leak

Earlier today, Forbes jumped the gun on some new Diablo III news. Though the article in question has since been pulled, the information lives on because this is the Internet and that's how things work. The reveal, which wasn't supposed to be until tomorrow, says that the action-RPG will be released on the Nintendo Switch later this year for $59.99 (USD).

Diablo III Eternal Collection for the Switch will include the core game, the Reaper of Souls expansion, and the Rise of the Necromancer content. It will obviously also include all of the previously released patches and gameplay tweaks, balancing efforts, and the like. H...
