It's been long overdue, but Ubisoft has finally revealed their plans to tackle cheating and hacking in Tom Clancy's The Division.
From the very beginning of development, our emphasis has always been on the player experience and how good we want it to be. We have great plans for the future of The Division, and for these to succeed we must make sure to provide a smooth high-quality experience. Unfortunately, the gameplay experience was recently impaired by in-game bugs and players violating the rules of the game. In order to bring back a better and healthier environment, we have taken new steps to address the situation.

They make an important distinction between those who are cheating and those who are exploiting a bug in the game. They said that they will start to make note of unpatched bugs and will start to more harshly penalize those that exploit those bugs for their own benefit.

This is a good move in the right direction and one that may just entice old fans to fire up the game again in the future.
