New 'Experimental' Splinter Cell Game Confirmed by Ubisoft CEO

Open World? GAAS? Mobile? VR?

The emotional rollercoaster that fans of the Splinter Cell series has been on for the past few years has been never ending, has had no chill, and frankly, it's gotten to be a wee bit tiresome. In May of this year, a new Splinter Cell was apparently "confirmed" and then it was later revealed to just be a joke.

Last month, we again heard a rumor that a new Splinter Cell was actually in the works. However, that story from July says that Facebook is financing the game and that it will be a VR only title and exclusive to the Oculus...

Mojang Cancels 'Super Duper Graphics Pack' for Minecraft

Performance issues and engine difficulties were too much to overcome.

Sadly, Mojang announced today that they are cancelling the promised Super Duper Graphics Pack that was originally revealed at E3 2017. This visual overhaul was teased for the game during the annual industry trade show and fans were eager to check it out for themselves.

This was going to be an optional piece of DLC that brought a suite of visual improvements to the Xbox One and PC versions of the game without needing to mod it. Sure, a lot of the visual improvements have been done time and time again...

The 2020 Call of Duty will either be Call of Duty: Black Ops 5 or simply Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game will be set in the Cold War era and will also include the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

This all comes courtesy of YouTuber TheLongSensation via his Twitter account. While it may be easy to just write this off as some random person...

No Man's Sky Beyond Launch Trailer

Update arrives August 14.

A launch trailer for the massive Beyond update for No Man's Sky was released today by Hello Games. This update is said to be the "culmination of 12 months of work" on what was originally going to be three separate, large updates. Those three updates have been rolled into this massive update.

We already touched upon some of the new features and content coming to the game in our last post. The biggest addition, at least for PC and PlayStation VR owners, is the addition of full VR support for No Man's Sky. There are also some additional...

Solos Finally Coming to Apex Legends

But only for a limited time.

Apex Legends will finally allow introverts to play without worry starting on August 13. A Solos Mode will be introduced into the F2P battle royale game. So far, the game has only really allowed for three-man squads.

The addition of Solos Mode is the good news. The bad news is that this mode will only be added to the game for a limited time. This Solos Mode will run from August 13 through August 27 in Apex Legends. Best get your fill of it while you can, because who knows when or if it will come back afterwards. ...

  • Valve Removes 173 Spam Titles from Steam Yet Keeps Achievement Farming Games

Valve Removes 173 Spam Titles from Steam Yet Keeps Achievement Farming Games

Earlier, Valve pulled 173 "spam" titles from the Steam store. These titles belonged to Silent Echo Studios. The studio avoided paying the $100 fee for Steam Direct on multiple occasions by submitting multiple games at once.

This led to multiple games being added to the Steam store to the tune of roughly a couple dozen games per month. These were all submitted with Steam trading cards and thus attracted collectors that just had to catch 'em all. The studio made a pretty penny on the sale of the Steam cards and would pump out even more spam titles to earn even more revenue from the cards. Rinse and repeat.

A statement issued to Polygon by Valve said that...

  • Valve's Fix for Combating Review Bombing is a Graph

Valve's Fix for Combating Review Bombing is a Graph

Review bombing is when a bunch of Steam users get together in an effort to drastically raise or drastically lower the user scores for a game. It's usually the case that a developer or publisher has done something that people don't agree with so they "get back" at them by submitting a bunch of negative reviews. Those mass spammed negative reviews are then upvoted in a mass circle jerk while any positive reviews are mass downvoted. This is all done in an effort to... do... something? I guess their end goal is just to lower a game's overall user score enough that it may dissuade people from buying it in the future. I mean, it worked out well for Grand Theft Auto V a few months ago. It worked out so well...

  • Steam Surpasses 15 Million Concurrent Users as PUBG Surpasses Dota 2 Player Record

Whew, PC gaming sure is dead, eh? We have some new records to announce to you today. First up, Steam has surpassed 15 million concurrent users. This means that all around the world statues crumble for me there were 15 million people logged into Steam but not necessarily playing games. Still though, it's impressive. What is even more impressive is when you realize that this breaks the previous record of around 14.7 million users, which happened last weekend. That, in turn, broke the previous record of 14.5 million users from the weekend before that. That 14.5 million users broke the previous record of 14.3 million users, set the week prior to th...

  • TmarTn and Syndicate Get Off Scott Free After Promoting Gambling Site to Minors

TmarTn and ProSyndicate have gotten away with little more than a stern warning after it was discovered that they were promoting Counter-Strike: Global Offensive gambling sites to minors. Specifically, they were promoting CS:GO gambling sites that they owned to minors, without any sort of disclosure. The two had paid other, unnamed, YouTubers anywhere between $2,500 (USD) and $55,000 to promote their sites. Well, the FTC has investigated and surprise, surprise, the two will face no penalties for their actions. Oh, but don't worry too much. The FTC said that in the future they will require proper disclosure from the two and will enforce violations. They will a...

  • Steam Banned in Malaysia Over Fight of Gods Game

Steam Banned in Malaysia Over Fight of Gods Game

Fight of Gods is an Early Access fighting game on Steam that, as you may already have guessed, include a number of gods and religious figures all battling it out. The roster includes religious figures such as good ol' Jesus "JC" Christ, Buddha, Zeus, Odin, and more. Turns out that Malaysia, specifically the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission, weren't too happy about that game. They went ahead and banned the entire country from accessing the Steam store. They feel as though the game is a "threat to the sanctity of religion and inter-racial harmony in the country." A minister with the commission allegedly said that Valve was given a...

  • This is the Plot to Half-Life 3

This is the Plot to Half-Life 3

January 8, 2016 is when we reported that Half-Life writer, Marc Laidlaw, parted ways from Valve. 18 years worth of writing for the company saw him pen some of the best games of our lifetime including the entirety of Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Dota 2, and Portal. It was sad, disappointing, and even a bit frustrating that he left before we ever got to experience his work in Half-Life 3.

It's weird to think about Half-Life 3. Fans have wanted it for years now, but Valve just doesn't seem capable of creating it. Perhaps they just don't want to at this point. Why would they? Steam and micro-transactions make them far more money than any single player narrative ever could, despite the hope that their fan base struggles to cling to. Episode 2 ended on one doozy of a cliff hanger and we wanted some sort of resolution to our experience. ...

Valve Made a New Game. It's a Dota Card Game. Yeah, I know.

Valve finally made a new game. It's a collectible card battling game based on Dota called Artifact. Actually, it seems as though the full title is Artifact - The Dota Card Game, just in case there was any grey room remaining on it being tied to Dota. They announced it this evening during The International 7 and man that crowd reaction was priceless. There isn't anything known about this game outside of the fact that it's coming in 2018 and Valve has released a teaser for the game. Given that it's a card game and it's tied to Dota, you can almost say with 100% certainty that the game is going to have micro-transactions out the ass...
