  • Steam No Longer Counts Review Scores from People Who Didn't Pay

Steam No Longer Counts Review Scores from People Who Didn't Pay

Have you received a game for free on Steam? Did you then review that game? If so, your review score no longer counts towards the game's overall score on Steam. Valve pushed out this rather substantial change to the Steam Customer Review system yesterday as a follow-up to changes they made back in September.
With the changes we are making now, the review score (shown at the top of store pages and in various places throughout the store such as search results) will no longer include reviews by users that received the game for free, such as via a gift, or during a free weekend. Reviews can still be written by customers

CS:GO Player Uses Exploit to Spam Chat and Avoid Kicks

Reddit has made the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive community aware of a player (or players) that has been going around to servers, spamming chat, and avoiding being kicked.

The user is on some sort of crusade to make Valve aware of cheaters in CS:GO by going about it in one of the most ass-backwards ways possible. All that Valve has done so far is provide a small solution to mitigate the exploit that the user is making use of. In the longer term Valve is "working on a solution" but they do not yet have an ETA on when that full fix will be deployed. The user has been going around and spamming walls of text in chat throug...

Wolpaw was also a co-writer for Left 4 Dead. Prior to his work at Valve, Wolpaw helped to write Psychonauts with Double Fine Productions. Back in 2004, Wolpaw was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and planned to quit Valve as he wouldn't be able to fulfill his duties due to a worsening condition. Gabe Newell surprised Wolpaw by saying that his job was to "get better" and sent Wolpaw on extended leave with pay in order to recover...
