Review: GreedFall (PC)

A long and thrilling journey.

GreedFall is a game that filled a gaping void I did not know I had for a new action-RPG experience. Though it lacks some of the polish you would expect from a major game release these days, the game still rewards the player with fun and varied combat, complex story beats, and an overall experience that should make even the veterans at BioWare sit up and take notice. For those of you that have been on the fence about picking up GreedFall, you would be doing yourself a disservice if you did not go pick it up right now.

Blizzard Issues Insultingly Pathetic Statement About Blitzchung Suspension and Reasoning

The cowards just doubled down.

Taking a page from politicians and businesses that know late on Friday is the best time to release news that you are positively ashamed to share, Blizzard has finally issued a statement about the recent ban on Blitzchung and two Hearthstone casters.

Before we get into it all, let's just read what they have to say. Here is Blizzard's full statement as it currently appears on their website.

Despite a reduction of six months for the suspension, Blizzard is still punishing Blitzchung. The...

Layoffs Hit PlayStation Europe

SIEE had no prior knowledge of PS5 reveal.

A new report from VGC says that Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe (SIEE) is undergoing a "restructuring" of several areas at the company, including marketing and PR. VGC says that they were informed of this unfortunate news from "people with knowledge of the situation."

As if that wasn't bad enough, VGC's report says that SIEE employees were informed about when American PlayStation directors visited SIEE in their London location. Those employees who were impacted by these layoffs...

Blizzard Employees Walkout in Protest of Unjust Ban on Pro-Hong Kong Hearthstone Player

A small group of Blizzard employees are protesting against the actions of their employer.

A small group of Activision-Blizzard employees staged a walkout on Tuesday afternoon of this week to protest against their employer. Earlier this week, Blizzard had banned a professional Hearthstone player, Chung "Blitzchung" Ng Wai, after he voiced his support for the pro-democracy Hong Kong protesters. Blitzchung voiced his support during a post-game interview during an official livestream.

Not only did Blizzard quickly cut away from the interview...

PlayStation 5 Confirmed for Holiday 2020 Release

Sony dishes more details about their next-gen console and controller.

The announcement of the next-gen consoles has been really, really weird. Sony first announced the PlayStation 5 via a Wired interview with Mark Cerny. Since then, there really hasn't been much revealed about the new console. In fact, it wasn't even known until today that the next console was actually going to be called the "PlayStation 5."

Today, a new PlayStation Blog entry was released alongside yet another exclusive Wired article that provides some additional details...

    CS:GO Dust 2 Getting a Makeover Soon

The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive developer Twitter just sent out word (two hours ago) that Dust 2 is getting a lovely makeover soon. The tweet states that the updated version of the map will be released for testing via the next beta depot for CS:GO. While I'll try to keep an eye out for it, chances are the diehard fans out there will know about it long before I ever get news up about it anyway. From the looks of the included image, Valve seems to be returning to the old school 4:3 aspect ratio for this update. Exciting! ...

  • Valve Removes 173 Spam Titles from Steam Yet Keeps Achievement Farming Games

Valve Removes 173 Spam Titles from Steam Yet Keeps Achievement Farming Games

Earlier, Valve pulled 173 "spam" titles from the Steam store. These titles belonged to Silent Echo Studios. The studio avoided paying the $100 fee for Steam Direct on multiple occasions by submitting multiple games at once. This led to multiple games being added to the Steam store to the tune of roughly a couple dozen games per month. These were all submitted with Steam trading cards and thus attracted collectors that just had to catch 'em all. The studio made a pretty penny on the sale of the Steam cards and would pump out even more spam titles to earn eve...

  • Valve's Fix for Combating Review Bombing is a Graph

Valve's Fix for Combating Review Bombing is a Graph

Review bombing is when a bunch of Steam users get together in an effort to drastically raise or drastically lower the user scores for a game. It's usually the case that a developer or publisher has done something that people don't agree with so they "get back" at them by submitting a bunch of negative reviews. Those mass spammed negative reviews are then upvoted in a mass circle jerk while any positive reviews are mass downvoted. This is all done in an effort to... do... something? I guess their end goal is just to lower a game's overall user score enough that it ma...

  • Steam Surpasses 15 Million Concurrent Users as PUBG Surpasses Dota 2 Player Record

Whew, PC gaming sure is dead, eh? We have some new records to announce to you today. First up, Steam has surpassed 15 million concurrent users. This means that all around the world statues crumble for me there were 15 million people logged into Steam but not necessarily playing games. Still though, it's impressive. What is even more impressive is when you realize that this breaks the previous record of around 14.7 million users, which happened last weekend. That, in turn, broke the previous record of 14.5 million users from the weekend before that. That 14.5 m...

  • TmarTn and Syndicate Get Off Scott Free After Promoting Gambling Site to Minors

TmarTn and ProSyndicate have gotten away with little more than a stern warning after it was discovered that they were promoting Counter-Strike: Global Offensive gambling sites to minors. Specifically, they were promoting CS:GO gambling sites that they owned to minors, without any sort of disclosure. The two had paid other, unnamed, YouTubers anywhere between $2,500 (USD) and $55,000 to promote their sites. Well, the FTC has investigated and surprise, surprise, the two will face no penalties for their actions. Oh, but don't worry too much. The FTC said that i...

Steam Banned in Malaysia Over Fight of Gods Game

Fight of Gods is an Early Access fighting game on Steam that, as you may already have guessed, include a number of gods and religious figures all battling it out. The roster includes religious figures such as good ol' Jesus "JC" Christ, Buddha, Zeus, Odin, and more. Turns out that Malaysia, specifically the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission, weren't too happy about that game. They went ahead and banned the entire country from accessing the Steam store. They feel as though the game is a "threat to the sanctity of religion and inter-racial harmony in ...

  • This is the Plot to Half-Life 3

This is the Plot to Half-Life 3

January 8, 2016 is when we reported that Half-Life writer, Marc Laidlaw, parted ways from Valve. 18 years worth of writing for the company saw him pen some of the best games of our lifetime including the entirety of Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Dota 2, and Portal. It was sad, disappointing, and even a bit frustrating that he left before we ever got to experience his work in Half-Life 3. It's weird to think about Half-Life 3. Fans have wanted it for years now, but Valve just doesn't seem capable of creating it. Perhaps they just don't want to at this point. Why would t...
