Yes, I'll take "headlines I never thought I'd type for $400, Alex?"

There's a new battle royale game available today. Keeping with the recent trend of surprise announcements leading into surprise releases comes Tetris 99. It's... it's a Tetris battle royale game. It's exclusive to those who subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online service.

Activision Blizzard Lays Off Nearly 800 Employees Right After Announcing 'Record Year'

This evening, Activision Blizzard began to inform numerous employees that they will be let go from the company. The layoffs started shortly after the conclusion of an earnings call made this afternoon. The company says that they will be eliminating 8% of its total staff. As of 2018, Activision Blizzard employed around 9,600 people. If this figure holds up, that means at least 770 people are now out of work.

Those impacted by the layoffs are spread out across multiple Activision Blizzard departments. This includes Activision's publishing division, Blizzard, High Moon, and King....

Not only that, but Vince Zampella revealed that the game has "well over 2 million" concurrent players. Battlefield 5 Adds Combined Arms Co-op, Balancing, and More in Tomorrow's Update

A patch that is tentatively slated to be released tomorrow, February 12, will add in some new content and features for Battlefield 5 players. Some of these new features include a four-player co-op game mode called Combined Arms. The update will also add in DLSS support and better RTX support for those using supported cards.

DLSS is a new technology that, in simple terms, makes the game look better and perform better through machine learning. It's mainly useful for resolutions at 4K or better and should, in theory, constantly result in better performance and near identical...

  • Steam Direct Now Available

    Steam Direct Now Available

Valve rolled out Steam Direct today to developers. This spiritual successor to Steam Greenlight promises a few changes that will maybe make it not suck as much as Greenlight did. With any luck, it will perhaps cut back on the number of low to no effort games. Perhaps.

Valve talks a bit about what happened to the near 3,400 titles that remained on Greenlight.
The end of Greenlight Last week, we disabled new submissions and voting via Greenlight and have been reviewing the remaining submissions. As of today, we've greenlit many of the remaining 3,400 titles that were remaining in Greenlight. There are a number of titles that we could not Greenlight, due to insufficient voter data or conce

Twitch Streamer Caught Cheating in CS:GO, Tries to Blame Friend

MissQGemini was a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive streamer on Twitch. I say was because Twitch has already taken action against them after the following events unfolded on a recent Twitch stream.

A video posted yesterday shows the CS:GO player loading up a hotkey activated cheat menu, proceeding to load a custom profile, cheat in CS:GO, and then attempt to blame their friend. Twitch has a zero tolerance policy for streaming cheating in online multiplayer games. This can be found at the bottom of their Community Guidelines.

Steam Direct Fee Details and Changes to Steam Curators

With the imminent death of Steam Greenlight, Valve finally started to get some details out about their Steam Direct program that will replace it. First up, the fee for adding games to Steam Direct will be $100, which honestly sounds a bit low given that this is the same price as what Greenlight was.

But hey, let's see what Valve's reasoning is for making it $100.
We thought it would be great if the game community at large had a conversation about it, including both players and developers, which was why we chose not to highlight a specific amount in that original post. Since then, we've seen a bunch of great conversations discussing the various pros and cons of whether there should be an amount, what that amount should be, ways that recouping could work, which devel
