Sony announced new price increases for PlayStation Plus that will go into effect starting May 20th for new customers in select regions. The price increase "does not apply to current subscribers" unless you live in Turkey and India. Sony says that the reason for the change is due to "ongoing market conditions."

Destiny 2 failed to hit several targets.

More and more it sure looks like it was a bad idea from Sony to acquire Destiny developer Bungie. In Sony's latest financial report (PDF link), they directly attribute a 31.5 billion yen (roughly $204 million USD) "impairment loss" to Destiny 2. Specifically, this impairment loss is due to Destiny 2 failing to hit sales milestones as well as declining user engagement.

Bungie officially delayed Marathon. Originally slated to release on September 23, 2025, Marathon now no longer has a release date. Bungie says that they won't have any sort of release date update until this fall. Mere days ago, Sony said that Marathon was still slated for a Fiscal Year 2025 release, meaning Marathon could be out by March 2026 at the latest. This is assuming plans don't change again.

Sony released a new and very surprising system software update for the PlayStation 3 today. The update brings the console software up to version 4.92.

This update is near completely unexpected given that the PlayStation 3 stopped being produced in 2017. The previous update for the PS3 console, 4.91, recently came out as well. In fact, 4.91 came out almost exactly a year ago on February 27, 2024.
