Oskar Gabrielson, the general manager at DICE, just shared a few small details about the future of the Battlefield franchise. This includes a very little bit about the next PC and console Battlefield title in addition to the announcement of a new mobile Battlefield game coming in 2022.

Gabrielson says that the reveal for the next Battlefield game is coming "soon." This may happen around or during the week of E3. Perhaps we'll even get a little teaser before E3. It's really anybody's educated guess at this point.

He also mentions that DICE is working with Criterion and DICE LA on the next mainline Battlefield title. He goes on to confirm that it will be released "later in 2021." This is their "biggest team ever" working on this next Battlefield title.

Right now, the teams are in "daily playtesting mode." They are "polishing, balancing, and making the best possible Battlefield game that (they) can." He says that it is Battlefield but taking to the "next level." He also confirms earlier remarks that suggested the player counts in a server would be increased beyond the 64-players we've been used to.

One thing that is important to note is that Gabrielson says that this new Battlefield game will be "brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs." This seems to be a clear statement that the new Battlefield game will not be released on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, but will instead be a next-gen only title for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

In 2022, DICE along with Industrial Toys will release a new Battlefield mobile title. Gabrielson says that this is a standalone title and is "a completely different game from the one we're making for console and PC." It is built from the ground up by iToys. Battlefield on mobile devices will be a "fully-fledged, skill-based experience."

Testing for this mobile game is just beginning now. There will be additional details revealed in the months ahead for this small-screen Battlefield experience.
