Hey, remember Avatar? Yeah, it's apparently still a thing!

It's been 12 years since James Cameron blasted our eyeballs with blue, 3D aliens, but that franchise is clawing its way back from obscurity with multiple releases planned for the coming years. Avatar 2 is coming maybe next year? Avatar 3 is coming in 2024. Avatar 4 is in 2025. Avatar 5 is slated for 2028.

I'm not joking either.

But those four additional films aren't the end of it, no sir! Ubisoft revealed their new Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora game that's slated to arrive in 2022. A new non-gameplay trailer was shown as part of the Ubisoft Forward E3 event spectacular earlier today.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, Amazon Luna, and PC. No old-gen release for this one. It is currently in development by Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment, the studio behind The Division titles.

This game is being billed as a first-person action-adventure title. Players will assume the role of a Na'vi and "embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora." You will be fighting against the RDA forces that threaten the planet. Those damn humans, I swear.

The trailer begins with a first-person look at seemingly familiar, lush, and beautiful jungle scenery, before we encounter a Na’vi and their banshee overlooking a magnificent vista with Pandora’s signature floating mountains in the background. We then see what are revealed as new forms of life and regions of Pandora, along with some known Avatar fauna including hexapedes and direhorses. Of course, it wouldn’t be Pandora without an incredible display of bioluminescence, as woodsprites float past dense, radiant flora under the pale light of the gas giant, Polyphemus.

The trailer also gives a glimpse of a Na’vi community upon an open plain, before revealing a large Resources Development Administration (RDA) facility with an extensive selection of military equipment at its disposal, including the Amplified Mobility Platform (AMP suit), as well as Samson and Scorpion gunships. Be sure to check out what happens next by viewing the entire trailer above.
