Developer Iron Gate is more than tickled pink to share news about their huge sales milestones for Valheim. This open world survival title has already surpassed two million copies sold in just 13 days. Not only that, but the team shares word that they hit another major milestone with a peak concurrent player count hitting above 360,000. Actually, in looking at the Steam player stats page, Valheim surpassed 392,000 concurrent players today.

Again, these figures were hit in just shy of two weeks of the game being available for sale through Steam Early Access. Today's news of two million sold copies comes just five days since their previous announcement of hitting one million copies sold. It was at that time where they were also thrilled about hitting 160,000 concurrent players. Today's news absolutely blows that already impressive figure out of the water.

Valheim has become the third most played game on Steam, behind only Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 as far as peak player counts are concerned.

For the sake of comparison, another smash hit that took Steam by storm was PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. In 2017, it took PUBG roughly three months to hit more than 350,000 players. It later peaked at nearly 3 million players. It is entirely possible that we will see similar numbers by Valheim if the trend continues. Not only that, but it will proceed at a much faster rate than with PUBG.

It probably also helps matters that Valheim is just $19.99 (USD) and weighs in at under 1GB in size after install.

Valheim is an open-world survival game that is less about survival aspects and more about adventuring, building, crafting, and facing off against fierce creatures from mythology. Not only that, but there is already a dedicated server available for the game and it supports up to ten players at once.
