A new status update from the team at Iron Gate delivers a new update on the amount of copies sold their open-world survival title, Valheim. The last update that we personally shared about the game came in mid-February. It was at that time that we shared word that the Early Access Steam release had hit 2 million copies sold. At that time, that figure happened just five days after the game was released into Early Access.

Now, a couple of weeks later and they're looking at 5 million units sold. As part of this recent community update, the Valheim crew shared some other interesting statistics that have been gathered.

During the little time you’ve spent in Valheim, all five million of you managed to:
    • Spend more than 15,000 years playing Valheim
    • Watch more than 35 million hours of gameplay Twitch
    • Pushed us to number 39 in the best user reviewed games on Steam of all time
    • Made our five-person strong team excited to come to work (virtually) each and every single day (that’s one person per million sales, by the way!)
We watch with pride and excitement, and struggle to find the right words to express our gratitude to you, the community. Exciting new milestones lie ahead, and we for one cannot wait to show you more of the game as we journey through our 2021 Roadmap.

Valheim and the Allure of Early Access

When is it the best time to jump into an Early Access game?

Often when people hear the term "Early Access" they think about games that are incomplete or filled with bugs. Sometimes they may worry that these games will be abandoned by the developers and never see a "complete" release of the title. While this fear may come true in a few cases, is it really worth missing out on some real gems of games while they're the current hotness?

      Take the case of...

Elden Ring Sold 13.4 Million Copies in First Month
      by Shawn Zipay
This is officially FromSoftware's most successful game to date.

The final tally is in, and it seems like Elden Ring sold over 13.4 million copies in a bit over its first month of availability. This makes Elden Ring the best selling FromSoftware title of all time.

Of course, we kind of already knew this. We previously heard that Elden Ring sold over 12 million copies in its first three weeks of availability. That means that an additional 1.4 million copies were sold over...
