Yesterday, BioWare and EA released the long-awaited Cataclysm update for Anthem. This had promised to be a major event in the Anthem timeline but it was met with some rather unfortunate setbacks when BioWare decided to push back nearly the entirety of their planned update release schedule for the game. The first major delay came back in April when several major features, including Cataclysm, were delayed until an undetermined time.
It looks as though that time is now, at least as far as the Cataclysm event is concerned. Yesterday, the 1.3.0 game update was released bringing about the Cataclysm, new story missions, new weapons and weapon types, and a slew of additional changes.
Sadly, it seems as though there wasn't much fanfare given to this fairly substantial update to the game. I may not have even known about it if I didn't see the game updating when I started Origin for the Battlefield V update. But enough about that, let's see what this Cataclysm is all about.

- Inversions - Sets of gameplay modifiers that impact how you face the challenges of the Cataclysm.
- Leaderboards - Finishing content in the Cataclysm mode adds to your score. Your score is updated to the leaderboard at the end of your run.
- Seasonal Currency - Complete challenges and content to earn Minor and Major Crystals. Spend that currency on the rewards in the Seasonal Store.
- Seasonal Store - A new store that features time-limited rewards for purchase with the seasonal currency.
The people of Bastion have much to fear – malevolent creatures roaming the wilds, fanatical Dominion forces testing their strength and fortitude – but nothing inspires as much terror and dread as a Cataclysm.
