No Man’s Sky Beyond

About two weeks back, the "Beyond" update for No Man's Sky was announced. At that time, we knew only a fraction of the content that the team at Hello Games is including in this update slated for release this Summer. Today, a bit more of their plans were revealed when the team announced that VR support is being added to the game as part of Beyond.

This VR support will be added to the PlayStation and PC versions of the game. PlayStation VR will obviously be the go to for PlayStation 4 owners, while PC owners will have their choice of Vive or Rift. I suppose that technically, other VR devices are supported so long as they can tap into the VR support offered by Steam.

Some tasty details were revealed via the PlayStation Blog.

It’s completely unique to land on a world that no-one has ever seen before and to really feel as if you’re there. The team has worked so hard to make this a true VR experience rather than a port.

Grab the joystick and thruster to fly your starship over an unexplored alien planet as you peer out of the cockpit at the view below. Reach into your backpack to grab your multitool, touch it to switch to terrain manipulation, and carve out intricate shapes with unprecedented control. Play in multiplayer and casually wave to your non-VR friends or fist bump your PS VR peers.

No Man’s Sky VR is not a separate mode, but the entire game brought to life in virtual reality. Anything possible in No Man’s Sky, NEXT or any other update is ready and waiting as an immersive and enriched VR experience.
As we mentioned previously, this update is going to be free to everyone that owns the game. Even with today's reveal, we still don't yet know everything that is planned to be included in the Beyond update. I'm sure we'll have more on this in the weeks ahead.
