No Man's Sky Synthesis Update Drops Tomorrow

A number of quality of life improvements are coming.

I am starting to believe that Hello Games just never sleep. The team released their absolutely massive Beyond update back on August 14 of this year for all platforms, including having the game launch on the Xbox One for the first time ever. That update added VR, Vulkan support, tons of new content across the board, and more. It was followed up by some smaller bug fix updates in the days following release.

Here we are just in November and another massive update is about to hit. November 28,...

No Man's Sky Beyond Launch Trailer

    Update arrives August 14.

A launch trailer for the massive Beyond update for No Man's Sky was released today by Hello Games. This update is said to be the "culmination of 12 months of work" on what was originally going to be three separate, large updates. Those three updates have been rolled into this massive update.

We already touched upon some of the new features and content coming to the game in our last post. The biggest addition, at least for PC and PlayStation VR owners, is the addition of full VR support for No Man's Sky. There...

No Man's Sky 'Beyond' Update Arrives August 14

Get ready to experience the next chapter in VR.

Hello Games announced today the release date for their big "Beyond" update that was announced some months back for No Man's Sky. This update includes, among other things, the addition of VR support for the PC and PS4 versions and will be a combination of "three major update rolled into one larger free release." As stated, this big update arrives on August 14 for all platforms.

Another big change in Beyond is the switch over to using the Vulkan renderer. This should, in many cases,...

Vulkan Support Added to No Man's Sky, Promises Better Performance

If there is one thing that is critical to a game having VR support, it's making sure that the base game can run well on capable hardware. A VR experience with poor performance and framerates isn't a VR experience that you want to have. Fallout 4 VR, I'm looking at you.

It's perhaps a good thing then that Hello Games just launched a new experimental branch update for No Man's Sky that adds Vulkan support to the game. The performance gains should be felt by most players, especially those on AMD video cards. More performance in the game is great because...

No Man's Sky Getting VR Support in Beyond Update

About two weeks back, the "Beyond" update for No Man's Sky was announced. At that time, we knew only a fraction of the content that the team at Hello Games is including in this update slated for release this Summer. Today, a bit more of their plans were revealed when the team announced that VR support is being added to the game as part of Beyond.

This VR support will be added to the PlayStation and PC versions of the game. PlayStation VR will obviously be the go to for PlayStation 4 owners, while PC owners will have their choice of Vive or...

No Man's Sky 'Beyond' Content Update Announced

Hello Games just announced another big update that is in the works for No Man's Sky. This update, called "Beyond" is currently slated to be released Summer 2019. Sean Murray took to both his own site and the PlayStation Blog today to talk about No Man's Sky: Beyond.

It seems as though Murray and his steam are going to announce more details about Beyond in stages. Today marks the beginning of the first stage where they talk about No Man's Sky Online.

And yes, as you may have already gathered from the previous content updates for...

    2018 Games of the Year

A week or two ago I took you through some of the games I felt were the worst video games in 2018. There were a variety of reasons included for why those games made that list, ranging from the games just being broken to the games just being boring.

Today, we're going in the opposite direction. Today, we are going to look at some of the best games of 2018. The list, with one exception is in no real particular order. I will try to keep it brief since this is probably already a month out of date by the time this goes live. I only include games that I played...

GOG Offering Extended Refund Policy for No Man's Sky

Just yesterday, No Man's Sky received the big "NEXT" update and with it came the long-awaited multiplayer component. Well, that is unless you have the GOG version on the PC. Apparently the multiplayer component is coming later this year for the GOG version and even then it may not have cross-play with the Steam version.
"From launch, the DRM-free edition of No Man's Sky will include all single-player content introduced by NEXT: third-person mode, upgraded visuals, better base building, player customization, and more. However the multiplayer component will not be

  • No Man's Sky "Next" Update Adds Multiplayer, Third-Person, Expanded Base Building

The cat was finally let out of the bag when it comes to the "Next" free update for No Man's Sky. On July 24, No Man's Sky NEXT will introduce players to the joys and potential sadness that is online multiplayer. It will also include overhauls to terrain generation of the randomized worlds, expanded base building, and much more. For the first time in years, it seems as though No Man's Sky is finally becoming the game that was promised prior to its initial release in August 2016. July 24 also marks the release date for No Man's Sky on the Xbox One. Yes, as shocking...

No Man's Sky's "Next" Update Coming this Summer to PS4, PC, and... Xbox One

Some big news today for No Man's Sky. Hello Games announced that a massive "Next" update for the game will be released this Summer. It will be free to those who own the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of the game. Oh, also the game will be released on the Xbox One. Yep, the game that Sony once talked up quite a bit and was console exclusive for the PlayStation 4 will hit the Xbox One this Summer along with a new, free content update for everyone. It will also be released for or via WeGame. From what I understand it's essentially Steam but in China and from Te...

  • No Man's Sky 1.3 Update Adds Multiplayer, Terrain Editing, Better Combat, and So Much More

The 1.3 update for No Man's Sky is here! Among the many changes, improvements, and additions in this update are the beginnings of online multiplayer! Yes, nearly one year after the game launched and broke a lot of hearts, the team at Hello Games seems to have been super busy putting together one incredible update. Based on the changes in the 1.3 update, this could be one of the biggest turnarounds for a game I've yet seen.

Up to 16 people can now adventure together, exploring planets cooperatively. Hello Games says that this is only the beginning, so expect to see more improvements made to the multiplayer going forward. You can edit terrain. New portals will take you to and from distant planets without the need of your ship. Space combat has been given a major boost. You can now properly fly when close to the planets' surfaces. And much more.

Let's take a look at the 1.3 "Atlas Rises" update changelog....

No Man's Sky Has a Weird ARG Happening Right Now

From what we have gathered, Hello Games has sent out packages to 16 people, many of which are mods on Reddit. In these packages are a No Man's Sky shirt, pin, socks, and a signed poster that says "hope you like what's next" along with a message saying "dreaming of far-flung worlds."

Each package also contains an audio cassette that are numbered (IE: 1/16, 2/16, etc.). According to a Reddit post, not all tapes have been received yet since most people don't actually still own a cassette player in 2017. The NMS detective team on Reddit have been h...
