Espire 1: VR Operative Announced for PC VR Headsets and PlayStation VR

    It's virtually Metal Gear Solid.

Digital Lode and publisher Tripwire Interactive announced Espire 1: VR Operative this past week at E3 2019. The VR title utilizes new methods of moving in VR to nearly eliminate the feeling of motion sickness. Espire 1: VR Operative is a game that, at least on its surface, looks like a VR take on a certain tactical espionage action game. That is to say, it's a stealth action title.

The game is currently in development for VR devices on the PC in addition to the PlayStation VR. The game is looking to be released this August on the Oculus...

Sniper Elite VR Announced for PC and PlayStation VR

    It's an all-new story.

Rebellion and Just Add Water have partnered to create a new Sniper Elite title unlike anything you've seen before. The latest reveal here is for Sniper Elite VR, an upcoming all-new game coming for VR devices on the PC and PlayStation VR at a date to be announced. Specifically, it's being developed for Oculus Rift, Viveport, SteamVR, and PlayStation VR.

Sniper Elite VR is a new and standalone FPS that is set prior to the events of Sniper Elite 4. This story takes place in Italy during World War II. Since this is a VR title, the action takes place...

Space Ops VR is Out Now

A new VR co-op shooter has entered the game.

Space Ops VR is out today from publisher Fibrum and developer Devcube Studio. The game, which is available normally for $14.99 enlists players into the Space Ops, an "elite cadre of first-responders tasked with protecting humanity in outer space." There is a launch sale price available, which knocks a hefty 25% off of the previously mentioned price.

This one is compatible with the Vive, Oculus, and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. I am going to assume that this includes all Oculus Rift branded headsets, and not necessarily...

Insomniac Reveals New PAX East Trailer for Stormland

A new trailer surfaced today ahead of PAX East 2019 for the Insomniac Games developed VR title, Stormland.

Stormland is currently only in development for the Oculus Rift. The chances of it being released for other platforms, like the Vive or PlayStation VR are pretty slim since it's being published by Oculus Studios. Of course, it's not particularly difficult to get Rift "exclusive" games working on the Vive thanks to Revive, so maybe that's a moot point.

Stormland places you in the robotic shoes of an android as they explore a giant world in search...

No Man's Sky Getting VR Support in Beyond Update

About two weeks back, the "Beyond" update for No Man's Sky was announced. At that time, we knew only a fraction of the content that the team at Hello Games is including in this update slated for release this Summer. Today, a bit more of their plans were revealed when the team announced that VR support is being added to the game as part of Beyond.

This VR support will be added to the PlayStation and PC versions of the game. PlayStation VR will obviously be the go to for PlayStation 4 owners, while PC owners will have their choice of Vive or Rift. I suppose that technically,...

Oculus Rift S VR Headset Announced - More of a Lateral Move Than an Upgrade

Today at GDC, Facebook announced a new version of their Oculus Rift headset that they're simply calling the Oculus Rift S. They announced a $399 (USD) price point for the device that will start shipping later this Spring.

On paper, the headset sounds like a decent device. It features an LCD 2560x1440 panel (1280x1440 per eye), better pixel density compared to the Rift, updated lenses, an 80Hz refresh rate, updated Oculus Touch controllers (functionally the same as the old ones), an adjustable halo strap similar to PlayStation VR.

    It also features inside-out tracking,...

    2018 Games of the Year

A week or two ago I took you through some of the games I felt were the worst video games in 2018. There were a variety of reasons included for why those games made that list, ranging from the games just being broken to the games just being boring.

Today, we're going in the opposite direction. Today, we are going to look at some of the best games of 2018. The list, with one exception is in no real particular order. I will try to keep it brief since this is probably already a month out of date by the time this goes live. I only include games that I played here. I do not own...

An Official Groundhog Day VR Game was Just Announced

The original Groundhog Day movie came out back in 1993. It starred the always fantastic Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. It was written and directed by Egon himself, Harold Ramis (may he rest in peace).

The premise was simple: A weatherman (Murray) is stuck in Punxsutawney, PA doomed to repeat February 2, otherwise known as "Groundhog Day," for all eternity. It was part comedy, part depressing realizations, and part romance all rolled into a single film set in one location and on one day.

And now here in 2019, an official spiritual successor to that...

ZeniMax and Facebook Settle VR Lawsuit

ZeniMax Media announced today that they have reached an agreement in the recent legal battle between themselves and Facebook over the use of various VR technologies that ZeniMax says they created. To catch you up to speed, this legal began back in 2014 when ZeniMax first sued Oculus VR and Palmer Luckey.

Then it was said that John Carmack's hard drive had proof Oculus lied in their lawsuit with ZeniMax. Then Mark Zuckerberg got involved. Then in early 2017, a jury gave half a billion dollars to ZeniMax in their lawsuit against Oculus. Then ZeniMax asked the court to halt the sale of the Oculus Rift. Then John Carmack sued ZeniMax for...
