S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was announced earlier this month, but it sounds like that announcement was made a bit too early. This is, of course, ignoring the fact that they announced a 2021 release date for the game here in 2018. The bigger issue here comes from a revelation shared today that STALKER 2 doesn't yet have a publisher. The early, some would say premature, announcement made this month was made in order to try to secure a publisher for the game.

That is to say, STALKER 2 doesn't actually have a publisher yet despite the game being announced.

Yikes.

This is according to Epic Games's director of publishing Sergey Galyonkin. As of right now, the game is only in the design doc stage and not even actually in "development" yet. Galyonkin revealed this little bit of information on episode 222 of the How to Make Games podcast. GSC GameWorld's owner Sergiy Grygorovych has even gone on record as saying that the 2021 release date could be "wishful thinking" due to the lack of a publisher.

It was also shared that while there are some original STALKER members still on the team, most of the STALKER 2 team is essentially all-new.
