Square Enix's Hajime Tabata showed off a very interesting demo reel at GDC today. According to PCGamesN, Tabata's special demo reel had a number of very familiar Final Fantasy XV characters running around through some fields.

The demo utilized Nvidia's TurfEffects that allowed for the scene to render 100 million blades of grass that properly reacted to the characters running through them. It also showed off Nvidia's new fluid dynamics and fur that is part of their Gameworks systems.
"Starting in December last year our FFXV team started conducting a series of tech tests with Nvidia’s Gameworks team. [This video] shows the current status of our game engine, Luminous Studio Pro, which is made possible by this collaboration with Gameworks.

"The latest technology that Nvidia offers enables us as game developers to create the possibility which is not simply about an evolution in visual appearance," explained Tabata, "but also to create new user experiences and greater emotional depth for players. We are going to continue working on some various tech tests so please keep your eyes open for more information coming out from the partnership between Luminous Studio Pro and Nvidia’s Gameworks."

Tabata was then asked if it means that Final Fantasy XV was coming to the PC. His reply was "no comment" coupled with a smile. Not pictured in any of the PCGamesN article were actual pictures from the presentation. Instead, pretend that those blocks in the image above for TurfEffects are Final Fantasy XV characters.
