Battleborn was updated today with the Third Story Operation. "Oscar Mike vs The Battle School" adds in the 30th Battleborn hero, Beatrix. It is going for $4.99 on its own or as part of the $19.99 Season Pass.
Oscar Mike vs The Battle School: In Battleborn’s DLC Story Operation 3 ($4.99 separately or included in the $19.99 Season Pass), Oscar Mike takes you through the ringer dodging traps, completing obstacles, and fighting through rigorous, satisfying combat.

Beatrix: Precise, deadly, and obsessively hygienic. As a former scientist, Beatrix wields a massive syringe arm to spread debilitating debuffs and disease. A master at manipulating life, her prowess for science combined with her Jennerit ruthlessness makes her one extremely qualified, and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS physician. Beatrix will be free for everyone with 47,500 credits earned in-game, or unlocked instantly using a hero key, which is included in the Season Pass.

This DLC goes hand in hand with the Winter Update. This update unlocks the core 25 characters from the start. Story mode missions now have additional guides so you don't get as lost as often. Credit rewards have been given a boost as well. The big feature for PS4 Pro owners is that the system is now supported with various rendering modes. These include 1080p at 30fps, 1080p at "up to" 60fps, or 4K at 30fps. The 1080p with unlocked framerate can also be used on the PS4, XB1, and XB1 S versions as well.

A comprehensive list of changes can be found here.

      Farewell Battleborn
      by Shawn Zipay
Servers for Battleborn have been shut down forever.

You can't say you didn't see this one coming. The servers for Battleborn have been shut down for good. The final day of the game being available to play was January 31, 2021. Gearbox sent the game out not with a bang, but with a whimper.

The final update for the game came all the way back in October 2017. We knew about the server shut down as early as November 2019. Last night, the plug was pulled from the servers and...

Monster Hunter Wilds Requires Frame Generation to Hit 60 FPS at 1080p with Recommended Hardware
      by Shawn Zipay
Once again the RE Engine shows it cannot properly do open worlds.

During the latest State of Play, Capcom showed off new footage for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. We learned that the game will release on February 28, 2025 for PlayStation 5 as well as Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While Capcom did send out a press release for Wilds after the end of the show, they did not mention the rather absurd system requirements for the PC version of the game.

      The PC system requirements...

Battleborn Servers to Shut Down in January 2021
      by Shawn Zipay
I bet you thought this game shut down years ago.

The good news is that Battleborn isn't dead. Who knew, right? The bad news is that it will be once January 2021 rolls around. 2K announced via Twitter that they will be deactivating the servers for Battleborn in a little over a year from now.

They also pulled the game from every digital storefront they could. I'm sure the millions of you that were still on the fence about picking it up for a year full of fun and merriment...
