A TV series based on the Battlefield franchise is coming. Paramount Television and Anonymous Content are readying to bring EA's and DICE's to the small screen. The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop on this one.
The two companies have optioned the rights to the game from DICE and EA, with Michael Sugar and Ashley Zalta set to executive produce.

"Paramount TV actively seeks smart content from all sectors that will resonate with audiences and translate to compelling programming,” Paramount TV president Amy Powell said Monday in a statement. “EA's Battlefield has an incredibly dynamic narrative, coupled with a loyal fan base, which will allow us to bring this exciting and unique property to the small screen. We look forward to working with EA and Anonymous Content and thank Michael Sugar for his tenacity in bringing us this exciting project."

Said Anonymous Content partner Sugar: “Battlefield has a tremendous built-in, engaged fan base, making it a highly coveted piece of IP primed for long-form adaptation. Together with EA and Paramount TV, we’ll develop the Battlefield TV series with the same commitment to robust storytelling that has made the game such a runaway success for nearly 15 years.”

There are a couple of ways they can go with this. One would be to make it a WWI/II mini-series like Band of Brothers. Of course, there wouldn't really be much to differentiate itself from other war movies out there outside of the "Battlefield" name. They could maybe go the modern or future war route, still in the vein of Band of Brothers being that it'd be dark and gritty. A series based on Battlefield 2143 maybe? The problem with that one is that it may require a much larger budget than something more grounded in reality or history. Or, and this would be what I would want to see the most, make it based off of the Bad Company games, story, and cast. Make it a bit over the top and let it set the stage for a new Bad Company game after the run is over.

    One can dream.

Option #3: Battlefield Hardline. Blur the lines between good cop and bad cop, and the necessary corruption of the city to maintain balance in the chaos of urban society. It's finally happening! Been hoping for the longest time that the captivating plot of Hardline will transfer over to TV. It's already in a television format so it works perfectly, and we can relate so well to the characters in our present timeline. Crime dramas look out! Battlefield is coming your way! The season finale will confirm and resolve the romantic tension between two undercover cops in a complicated bank heist. Look forward to it!

While it sounds like a good idea for TV, Im scared that if its mildly successfull that might elicit a sequel of a new Battlefield Hardline sometime in the future.

I liked the solo mode of Hardline. I liked the "miami vice" vibe it had. The "in the last episode of BF Hardline" eveytime you load a save or the "in the next episode" at the start of a new chapter. Made me nostalgic for the 80s cops shows. As for the multiplayer part of it: meh.

I have to say I liked the Hardline single player. The BF3/4 was terribad. Don't get me wrong, Hardline was cheesy, but you could easily make a miami-vice like show with it.

I hope they go BC2 like though, more A-Teamish with cheeky humor and special military missions.

      Who knows though.
