  • Rumor: Battlefield 5 Retail Listing Suggests WWI Setting

A retail listing for Battlefield 5 popped up at a Swiss online retailer, World of Games. The description for the game mentions an October 26 release date and a description that points to the game being a "multiplayer tactical shooter in WWI."

The listing at the retailer still exists, however the description has been removed to simply say that it is a "multiplayer tactical shooter."

A Twitter user, Doctor_Cupcakes, seems to be the person that first discovered the initial listing. The original image with the old description can be found below.

I'd be interested to see if DICE can make WW1 a fun romp in the way other battlefield games are, movies and games have given us glamorous looks at WW2 but i feel for most people WW1 remains a very sombre and horrific thing, if they do go this route i'm not sure a Hollywood action movie approach would make sense.
Verdun was the latest attempt at a WW1 shooter, by restricting itself to infantry trench warfare it lined up with peoples ideas of the war, to have people driving around making ragdolls flip about in typical Battlefield style is another thing.

True, looking at the last battlefield games published, specifically BF4, the battlefield series had reached the highest peak in combat speed that it ever had. Battlefield 4 can be pretty damn fast (specially with the greatly tweaked network). WWI with very few automatic weapons, will be hard to do that.
I would love to see them give a take at that though, wonder what kind of improvements would they bring.
They would have to make their death physics even better and the feel of shooting, specifically bolt action weapons, pretty god damn satisfying since thats what should mostly be used.
Also, WWI battles where mostly on very open fields, so I don't see a lot of margin for building destruction or any "levolution" (not that I care about the latter so much though), so It would be interesting to see them play more with ground destruction, having massive holes done by mortars that you can use as cover, or even being able to create and dig your own trenches.
      What do you guys think?

I'm kinda worried that the scope of WW1 battle might be a bit limited for a game; that said, if they have planes, I would love that as a fan of old WW1 flying games such as Wings or Knights of the Sky.

Battlefield 6 Reviews - Solid Multiplayer, Terrible Single Player Campaign
    by Shawn Zipay
The multiplayer more than makes up for the "dull" campaign.

The initial batch of reviews for Battlefield 6 indicate that yes, Battlefield is back! This is assuming you ignore the "short," "disappointing," and "dull" single player campaign. At least the multiplayer component seems to more than make up for the massively disappointing campaign.

The average critical score on OpenCritic for Battlefield 6 is 84% with 92% of all critics...

Battlefield 2042 Review: A Battlefield in Ruins
    by Shawn Zipay
Battlefield 2042 is a shallow, feature-lacking mess of a game that appeals to neither long-time franchise fans nor newcomers.

The release of Battlefield 2042 on November 19th should have been a joyous occasion for fans of the franchise. Instead, what the world received was a broken mess of a game that has long-standing "legacy" features removed, barren maps, and a tone that was often at odds with itself. Even after receiving three major post-launch updates, there is very...
