Includes information on several future projects, internal Sony fears on Microsoft, personal data, and more.
Spider-Man swinging through the streets of New York City.

A week back, a ransomware group named Rhysida claimed that they gained access to Insomniac Games and stole internal data. The group demanded they be paid 50 BTC (or about $2 million USD) within a week or they would release the entirety of the data they stole to the public.

A week has come and gone and true to their word Rhysida did release the data that they stole. All told, the ransomware group released 1.67 terabytes of stolen data. This data is spread out across more than 1.3 million files that include, but is not limited to: Videos and images of upcoming games, personal staff information, internal Sony presentations, contract terms between Marvel and Sony, sales forecasts, and sales figures for Sony titles released on PC.

More specifically, there are videos showing some early footage of the upcoming Wolverine game. These videos range from early cutscenes, animation test footage, various gameplay footage, and motion capture footage. The entire main cast of Wolverine, complete with the actors voicing the characters, was also leaked. A list of locations, the plot, bosses, abilities, side content, traversal methods, and even a target release date for Wolverine were also leaked. There is even reportedly a bootable build of Wolverine included.

Internal data for both Insomniac Games and PlayStation Studios was also included in this release. There is an extended roadmap for Insomniac shared that seemingly extends out until the year 2035. Some of these projects include a standalone Venom game in 2025, the Wolverine game in 2026, Spider-Man 3 in 2028, a new Ratchet & Clank title in 2029, and a couple of X-Men games starting in 2030. An unnamed new IP is expected sometime in 2031/2032. Additional slides show a Spider-Man 2 Online game for 2024, a Wolverine Online in 2026, and X-Men Online in 2028.

The X-Men license terms were also leaked. A $120 million budget for each game was mentioned, in addition to a $30 million budget for marketing. All X-Men titles are expected to be out by 2035 with both PlayStation console and PC listed for platforms.

For the Venom title, it looks like this will be a smaller release similar to how Miles Morales was a smaller release for the first Spider-Man title. The Venom game is said to offer an 8-10 hour standalone experience at a $49.99 (USD) price point. A Q2 2025 release was mentioned.

Also released is a slide showing the return on investment (ROI) figures for current titles along with ROI forecasts for future projects. Of Insomniac's recent releases, we see that games like Miles Morales saw a profit of $104 million. These figures also include a look at the budgets for these games, including a $315 million budget for Spider-Man 2 and projected budgets of $385 million and $305 million for Spider-Man 3 and Wolverine respectively.

Also included was a piece of concept art for Bluepoint Games' new "original content" title that they are working on.

More broadly speaking, some internal PlayStation Studios data was shared. This information includes a presentation featuring a slide where Sony feels as though Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard will allow Microsoft to "leapfrog" Sony's current pillars. Sony fears that the acquisition will allow Microsoft to build value with live service titles, and will allow Microsoft to build a mobile gaming store that can compete with Apple and Google.

Sales figures for PlayStation titles released on Steam were also leaked. At a glance, the information shows that Horizon Zero Dawn sold in excess of 3.3 million units, God of War sold over 2.5 million units, and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered sold over 1.3 million units. We also see the downside to some of Sony's efforts for PlayStation titles on PC by way of a rather paltry 450.2K units sold for Spider-Man: Miles Morales and an even more unfortunate 62.9K units sold for Sackboy: A Big Adventure. However, these sales figures are several months out of date.

Apparently, sales figures for every PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 first party title also leaked. For instance, God of War for PlayStation 4 sold over 21 million units, Marvel's Spider-Man sold 22.7 million, Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us (PS4 only) sold just 18.6 million, and Bloodborne sold 7.6 million units.

As with everything of this nature, we will not share the leaked images, videos, or documents here. It must also be said that every game related leak may be outdated, particularly when it comes to sales figures, budgets, and more. Plans for the future may also be outdated as plans do change quite often in game development, especially when these plans seemingly extend out to over a decade in the future.
