Why yes, that's tomorrow!

Bethesda and Microsoft have confirmed to the world that Starfield has gone gold! Before digital downloads became prevalent, going gold indicated that a game was ready to be sent off for mass production of physical copies. These days? It mostly just means that the game is done, typically free of major bugs, and can be played from start to finish.

Starfield will reportedly have a physical disc release, so the antiquated form of gone gold still actually holds true! It also means, for the digital fans, that preloads are almost here.

And by "almost here" I mean that starting tomorrow, August 17th, you will be able to preload Starfield on your Xbox Series X or S. The PC preload will begin through Steam on August 30th. Those of you with Game Pass should also be aware that Starfield is hitting Game Pass on day one.

Starfield is expected to be released on September 6, assuming you get just the base version of the game. Those of you who plunk down a little extra cash for the Premium Edition will get to play Starfield starting on September 1 (keeping in mind that time zones exist). The Premium Edition also includes the Shattered Space Story Expansion, a Constellation skin pack, digital artbook, and original soundtrack.

All pre-orders regardless of version will also get special skins for the Laser Cutter, Deep Mining Helmet, and Deep Mining Pack.
