Today marks the release date for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass version of This War of Mine: Final Cut. Final Cut is said to offer the "most polished" experience for the game. It essentially combines all of the patches, balancing, stability fixes, and improvements made to the game since its initial release roughly eight years ago. It also includes the content from two major updates: Anniversary Edition and Final Cut.
While the Anniversary Edition added in three new locations, new NPC civilians, a new scenario, a new playable character, and more achievements, the Final Cut update adds in some refinement for the modern consoles. Final Cut adds in 4K visuals, adjustments to the UI, plus remastered locations from the base game and DLC. There are also new quests and events to engage with if desired.
There is also an optional All Expansion Pack release that includes four DLC packs: The Little Ones DLC (which adds children to the survivor groups), plus three story-focused Stories that include Father's Promise, The Last Broadcast, and Fading Embers. Each main story-focused DLC adds new locations and mechanics. They also feature "stories touching upon different moral and cultural aspects of wartime survival." The Last Broadcast was written by Meg Jayanth, the writer behind 80 Days.

Developer 11 bit did share some other big news today. This War of Mine has now sold more than 7 million copies to players around the world.
