The survival horror RPG set in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone (CEZ), Chernobylite, now has a free next-gen upgrade awaiting PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players.
The Farm 51 and All in! Games are offering this free next-gen version to those that already own the game. Better still, this update is also available today for PC owners of the game. If you don't yet own the game, you can pick it up for 25% off for a limited time from Steam and GOG.com.
The visual upgrades include dynamic 4K resolution (at 30FPS cap), and a 60FPS option that is capped at 1080p. There is also now DualSense controller support. There is also an Activity Card that will "assist overcoming familiar and new otherworldly hazards."
Today also marks the release of the Season One Update. There is also the third free content update out today on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store (GOG soon to follow). This content update will be out this Summer for consoles. Season One offers a new free mission, the Silent Assassin crossbow, and a paid Blue Flames cosmetic pack that includes clown masks, flame base equipment effects, and more.
Three additional content releases are planned for the rest of the year. Season Two will offer a story expansion, a new map to explore, and new side quests. That content will be out for PC first sometime in Q2 2022.
Last but not least, there is word that the studios behind the game are donating 100% of the proceeds from the Chernobylite Digital Charity Pack DLC to the Pure Heart Foundation to support those that are currently impacted by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This charity pack is available until March 14, 2023 via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.
